Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (tv series)

Finally got it finished.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Didn't see a whole lot to complain about, but if I nitpicked, it would be.. take Vader's head off!! He's right there, ripe for the taking! You left him like that once before and it didnt work out then either!

But the battle scene was amazing, properly reminded me why I used to love Star Wars.

As much as I'd like more of it, I don't think you can put him in with Vader again without it getting too contrived to butt up to Ep4 and I'm not sure what legs it has without that.

I said it before, no problems with Reva for me, thought she did a good job, good character. I'd have to see a good premise or trailer etc to get interested in a spin off for that though.

Or when Haslab made Jabbas sailbarge, once they went into production a week later they were on eBay for double the price.A lot of times fans miss out due to scalpers.
The problem is that there's little that can be done about it. It's not like they can put something on the website saying Fans Only, no scalpers allowed. There's just no way for current technology, or likely future technology, to tell whether someone buying the item is buying it for themselves/as a gift or are a scalper. The best that they can do right now is limit the number of items per person and even then all they need is a bott and a bunch of dummy accounts of friends/accomplices to do their dirty work.

I’m sure nothing can be done about scalpers, I think people that are toy scalpers are bottom feeders. On a different site adults were bragging about buying 3 sail barges to flip,it’s their money to do what they want I just find it pathetic.

I had high hopes and expectations for this, and while it didn't fall completely flat for me, there were a few disappointments and it just seemed.........off. Haven't had a chance to read all 174 pages of this thread, so some of this may have already been discussed, but a couple of things in my opinion...........

- I hated that Kenobi, Owen, and Beru all failed to do the one thing they were meant to do: protect Luke. At the end of the day, he fell into the hands of the enemy and only by her last minute change of heart was he saved. I don't care about story line parallels or Obi-Wan's potential influence on her, they all failed.

- Like others, how is it that a youngling, a Grand Inquisitor, and an adult Reva could survive a saber jab, without so much as an explanation, and my man Qui-Gon folded like a lawn chair.

- Speaking of Qui-Gon, I waited every episode to see him return and we got 10 seconds in the finale. I was thrilled to see him, but so much lost potential.

- I liked the surprise of the little Leia story, I was so fixated on Obi-Wan's mission to protect Luke that I never expected that story line. Also ties in nicely and adds something to the "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope" message from ANH.

- Would have loved to see some CW flashbacks.

- The finale was great, the best episode IMO.

- Ewan did an outstanding job, I don't want him done as Obi-Wan. I need to see him and Neeson again.........which I am sorry to say will likely never happen.

I have a suggestion for a season 2........Obi-Wan meets a young adult Luke and they go off on an adventure to rescue Princess Leia from the Death Star after Owen and Beru are murdered. Unfortunately Obi-Wan meets his demise after meeting Vader for a 3rd time, on the Death Star, where he sacrifices himself so Luke, Leia, and their new acquaintances can escape. What do you think? :D

Well, it is possible that in both cases they had bad aim and missed any vital organs.

Yeah, I heard something about how the actor for Reva got a bunch of hate, but I honestly have zero idea why. I thought her character was interesting, even if her arc was a bit predictable. The only complaint I had was that killing Vader's kid to get back at Vader who, at that point, didn't even know of him didn't make a ton of sense, but by that point I could chalk that up to "Well, she's just so consumed with rage, she isn't really thinking straight."

Anyway, I think at this point that the story is clearly done, and that's fine. While I really enjoy the stories that are focusing on the pre-OT/OT/immediately-post-OT era, I think it's time for Star Wars to start looking to the post-ST era. I hope they can start to do that in the next few years. I think TV has proven an ideal medium for Star Wars as well. Much as I love...er...many of the films, I think the film format has contributed more problems for storytelling purposes than it has benefits. I also think that, in a way, the television format forces more attention towards the actual longer form of the story, whereas the films have felt a lot more thrown together. Sometimes that's worked (e.g., Rogue One), other times...not so much (e.g., Rise of Skywalker). TV has provided a more even-keeled format, it seems, and they seem better able to manage budget and production at this point.

Ultimately what bothers me the most about this show aside from the writing is how cheap it looks. Disney has probably realized, after seasons 1 and 2 of Mando, several Marvel shows, and others, that Disney+ is never going to rake in the same kind of money a movie is. What’s worse is that they’ve realized that the majority of their viewers won’t care if they cheap out. Seriously, compare The Mandalorian to Kenobi. The money is obviously there in Mando where it isn’t for Kenobi. Hell, even look at Mando’s episode in BOBF against the other episodes of BOBF. They have realized these shows aren’t going to be making what they want, and that people will not care as long as it says “Star Wars/Marvel/Pixar/etc. on it. Kenobi does not look even a tenth as good as Stranger Things S1 (essentially an independent television show from 2016), or Game of Thrones, or even the stuff Apple TV is putting out. Disney is skimping and cheaping out because we are telling them it’s OK. It should not be okay with us. There should not be episodes of Firefly from twenty years ago that look better than a modern show produced by the largest entertainment company in the world. The fact that they essentially used expensive toys for hero props is ridiculous. Nothing from Master Replicas should have appeared in something official from Lucasfilm.

Honestly, I don't even know that it happened. Hollywood is really good at setting up excuses for failure. Even if it did though, a couple of mean posts from trolls doesn't make the show better. It's just an excuse and they've pulled this crap before.

If Disney really wanted to make money off Star Wars they would have invested all of their time and energy into the video games side of it. They could raking in that sweet microtransaction money. The great thing about Star Wars games is they cover every genre so none of them would be in competition with each other.

Compared to the Marvel shows, there for sure is difference in quality and budget. AMC shows like Into The Badlands put these marvel/star wars shows to shame as far as action.

I'm not on Instagram or any other social media platform other than Facebook. Even that one is a wasteland in a lot of ways.

Yep, this is the first show that's felt like a TV show to me. This is the first time I've noticed where the floor stops and The Volume starts......yikes...

I mean, the difference between the excellent physical model of Moff Gideon’s cruiser vs. the Star Destroyer 3D model you could probably get for relatively cheap on turbosquid.com or something.

I think most fans didn't like Reva for the simple reason that she was poorly written. She knows EVERYTHING without them giving us any reason for why she has information that only the viewers have. For example, there's nothing in any of the SW movies/shows to show that Bail and Obi-Wan were best buds. They interacted in various events, but nothing says they went to the bar every weekend. No one besides some of the Alderaanian crew, Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Bail know what happened at the end of ROTS. It's like Rey in the Sequels all over again. They want you to just be an idiot and scoop up what they are trying to feed you when it's just bad. So there's no reason that she would have suspected that Bail would go to Obi-Wan for any help just because they attended a few Senate meetings.
