Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (tv series)

I'm not sure how I feel about him doing a ton of fighting. I could have sworn that I remember hearing a bit of OWK's backstory in ANH as it pertains to him lighting his saber in the cantina. I feel like I remember hearing that it had been so long that he wasn't 100% that his saber would fire up. If true, add that to him still having all of the same nicks and patches on his robes from ROTS. I'd like to keep a lot of the old hermit lore if possible.

I doubt that. He never stopped being a Jedi. I'm sure he was checking at least weekly to make sure his lightsaber was in working order. He wouldn't have made a very good guardian if Vader came for Luke and he got there and his lightsaber wouldn't ignite.

If they go the route of the Obi-Wan novel, where he is helping whenever he's needed and doing it covertly (disguising lightsaber wounds, Force use, etc.) I think it would be very cool. I like the idea that when he uses his lightsaber in the cantina, he's making a statement that he's back and not hiding anymore. I think that's kind of why after he slashes the arm off, he kind of flexes and stands there like "Anyone else?". The fact that he stayed in the desert for 18 year or whatever shows the sacrifice he's making and tells you a lot about his character. Not to mention, he was never alone because he could talk to Qui Gon and Yoda.

I hope so!
Can anyone confirm or deny?

That would be incredible but the font seems kinda cheap. Plus they would want to really lean into BoBF right now right?

Edit: Looked a bit closer. With the event they are planning to celebrate I can completely see a long featurette of BoBF and then a tiny teaser for Obi Wan. Very possible.

November 12th is Disney+ Day, so its pretty likely we will get some sort of announcement. That graphic seems totally fan made, though.

With book of fett trailer last week I doubt we will get anything else any time soon

Hope I’m wrong…

I was told last year that they shot a quick teaser of him meditating in the desert, they brought Ewan on the mando set for the shoot, it was going to air at the Super Bowl. I only watched the super bowl for the trailer but we never got it. Curious if this upcoming trailer is of that footage

Hey Sluis Van Shipyards ! Do you think that the Force Ghosts could appear whenever they want? I wonder how taxing the effort to appear is on them? Like when it looked like Luke was doing a little heavy lifting as a Force Ghost on Ahch-To to pull his X-Wing out of the ocean and bring it up so Rey could fly off with it. And to that point, why aren't Force Ghosts actively helping Jedi or Padawans or even Force Sensitives hone their abilities?

I'm certain Rey's Force Ghost won't have any problems exerting effort, unlike Grogu who lifts a Mudhorn and takes a nap for two days, she can lift a massive pile of boulders and come out the other end all smiles and hugs. ;)

But seriously, where's Anakin and Princess Leia's Force Ghosts? I understand with Carrie Fisher having passed on that Leia's Force Ghost won't be acted by her, but if they made her a young Force Ghost... Millie Bobby Brown would be one excellent option...

For the record, I DO NOT WANT TO SEE HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN AS ANAKIN'S FORCE GHOST. But if you could find an actor that looks like Sebastian Shaw did, I'M ALL FOR THAT!

From just the movies, it's hard to tell because we aren't given enough information. Then there's the fact that it seems like most Jedi (at least in the movies) don't know about that power, so very few who have used it are around to help anyone. I'm guessing that it probably takes less effort to appear because of Obi-Wan's line about becoming more powerful than you can possibly imagines. That implies he can pop in whenever he wants. I don't really like that a Force ghost could use powers like Yoda in TLJ. If they can do that Obi-Wan could have just used the Force to wrench Vader's TIE controls and smash him into the trench wall in SW.

A sizzle reel leaked today. No footage of the show but some concept art was shown. Vader v Kenobi was one of pieces of concept art. Game on Garth.

I still have very mixed feelings about this whole thing, especially the notion of another duel with Vader, but it does have my curiosity. I really don't get the need for Hayden's return unless Vader goes helmetless for any length of time, they plan to go the tacky "battle damage" look for Vader at some point (ala The Force Unleashed and Rebels, life support suit be damned) and reveal his face, or perhaps there are substantial flashbacks. Otherwise, Vader really needs to be physically portrayed by a much bigger guy (as opposed to the weird ROTS look). And here's hoping James Earl Jones is back as well.

At this point it would be redundant when we’ve seen the stories of Kanan Jarrus, and Cal Kestis, but I wish a show like this had been used to tell the story of a Jedi survivor we’ve never met before. It lets them take him wherever they want without worries of messing with fan expectations or canon.

I really hate the idea of Vader and Ben even meeting after ROTS. Ben is supposed to be hiding, to keep Luke hidden. Meeting Vader in any capacity is like, the opposite of that.

Totally agreed. I know some fans were crapping their pants for an Obi-wan movie/series for some reason but I find his tale far more poignant in his sacrificing the last 20 years of his life in quiet seclusion, dedicated solely to watching over Luke. The notion that he's still going on adventures and potentially facing Vader again along the way seems pretty silly though it's sounding like that's what is going to happen. It's going to be weird if they have some rip-roaring duel in this show and then just a few years later Obi-wan can barely hold a lightsaber. Not to mention that Vader's lines in ANH about how they "meet again at last" and how he "was but the learner" when he last saw Obi-wan will make zero sense. In this show, he's been Vader for 10+ years at this point, if they meet again. Hardly a learner.

The only potential positive in my mind is if Obi-wan is going to try and make some last ditch effort to track Vader down and turn him back. Dialogue in ROTJ suggested Obi-wan made some effort to bring Anakin back to the light ("Obi-wan once thought as you did") yet once he turns to the Darkside in ROTS, Obi-wan is basically like "sorry brother, you gotta die!!!". He didn't seem to try very hard. So if this show could potentially address this and show Obi-wan making some effort to save his friend, I could be more on board.

Otherwise, a TV show about a new character that's a fugitive Jedi would be far more compelling in my book, and possibly tragic given their likely fate.

I HATE the idea of having them fight again, but if it's still 13 years or so before ANH, I can see ways of doing it that would make it more palatable. Maybe the Rebels (or Yoda senses him?) find Vader along somewhere and vulnerable and they convince Obi-Wan to make one last ditch attempt to take him down. The problem with that is, that at that point killing Vader would have little to no effect on the Empire because the Emperor would still be in power. So it's not much reward for an insane massive risk that could get him killed and Luke exposed.

I thought I heard that the Vader/Kenobi duels would be dreams or visions that Kenobi had, brought about by his guilt. I can see Obi Wan being tortured by trying to kill his friend... or be tortured for failing to kill a Sith lord taking over the galaxy. I don't know if this is true (I don't even remember where I heard the rumor) but it could allow cool fight scenes with out ruining cannon

Vader V Obi is like bringing back darth maul. Everyone says they are against it but once it happens 90% of the people are all in with smiles. Obi does say in a ANH he is getting too old to go anymore of these adventures who so knows how they play on that.

All I know is I don't want to see Obi-Wan sitting around inside a house being Emo crying half the day and meditating the other half with random moments of staring off at distant child playing in the sand.
