Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (tv series)

Okay I can not take it anymore.

I always thought of Vader as a doer. He gets stuff done. I never liked the idea of him having a castle as I don't picture him ever wanting to go somewhere and sit. He is a go getter. He has his meditation chamber on his ship. He also likes to stand. Other than in his med chamber he is always standing.

He looks really silly sitting in that throne. Then he just goes and stands staring out the window. look, there is the spot where I got my limbs cut off.

Oh and for Fudge sake can't you get his costume right. Good God.

Give me a break. Vader is out there getting things done.

In my mind Vader would never murder children. Yeah, he stood there as Alderan was blown away but that was not his decision. He made it clear he was not impressed with the Death Star. So in that god awful prequel where Anakin turned evil for no reason, and ten minutes later was slaughtering children, I always figured he did not do it and since we never see it instead he showed them how to escape.

Then he snaps the neck of a kid just trying to help his kid. Did not seem very Vaderish, more Punk Disney.

I also never pictured Obi Wan Kenobi as a pathetic, weak, dumb, coward who has to be lead around by a ten year old, and is afraid of a "Inquisitor" so far below him it's not even funny.

Give me a break. Really. It looks like a cheap fan film who's whole goal is to destroy Obi Wan and Vader just like they did Luke and Han.

This is a crap fest pure and simple.

I am not criticizing anyone who likes it. If you like this that's cool. Your life will never work out, but it's cool.
Its been said before but I'll say it again...If the OT was all we ever got, my love for Star Wars would still be just as strong and we'd be all better off...win win.

if my memory is correct when Yoda points out to Obi-Wan the padawans killed by lightsaber you can see one of them has a chopped off arm.

Those were older and not in the council chamber. Believe me I am aware I am really reaching, but snapping an innocent kids neck kind of canceled out my theory and hope.

BTW I love the girl they cast as Leia. She is awesome. Just written in Disney garbage.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! It should have ended in 1983 with "Yub Nub."

That is going to be on my tombstone.

I was actually trying to resist posting as I have virtually nothing good to say about this and I didn't just want to dump loads of negativity into the discussion but what a steaming pile of garbage,

Oh, yeah and the Prequels still suck as bad as ever. Some are trying to re-write history but most people, not all, but most hated them and George for making them. Most were excited when he sold it to Disney and we thought, man this is gonna be great. Talk about disappointment.

The “Disney garbage” thing is so old.

The prequels
The holiday special
Droids
Ewok adventures
Clone wars movie
Ewoks Battle for endor
Ewoks caravan of courage

The special editions

The 90’s hulking out toy line…

All Lucas approved. All pre Disney.

Gimme a break.

It’s Lucasfilm garbage.

Literally everything pre-Disney - other than the Original Trilogy (obviously) - was garbage. And if you ask people who were in their 30’s when Jedi came out, they’ll say even that was garbage. “EWOKS!?!?”

Only diff now is the mouse gets a cut from it.

"Negativity is only Negative...from a certain point of view" ...Iol. I find your comments to be positive. You have a voice, many may agree or disagree...part of the problem within Star Wars is that fans are fearful to express disappointment because of being labeled negative or a bully...whatever they can use to try to cancel you out they will. One thing we can, and should all agree on is that we have all invested our passion, time and money into Star Wars...therefore we have the right to express our praise or disgust equally as fans. Some don't like it but that's too darn bad.

Hey. I loved my Power of the Force figures.

Unfortunately no one else does at the yard sale. Not even for a dollar.

Yep. George made a lot of crap, but none of that stuff I considered part of the real Star Wars.

The difference is George tried and was not trying to destroy Star Wars. This evil pile of walking wasted flesh taking up our air K.K. just wants to piss all over everything. God what makes this woman hate men and Star Wars so much.

Oh and BOBF was one of the worst pieces of crap ever made so those two clowns are not high on my list either. BTW not everyone can pull off a cowboy hat. It's impossible for me to wrap my head around the idea that the guy who directed Ironman was behind BOBF.

"Oh, Kathy I see you like destroying beloved Star Wars characters. I think I will give it a go. Thanks. John."

Hey I did too… I turned by dads model train landscapes into huge roided out Star Wars action scenes

But it was def weird.

Lol.

Dude just don’t watch. Why waste time?

And don’t worry…. Insiders say she’s gonna be fired any minute for the last 5 years!

buy a helmet and make one of thousand KK obsessed YouTube channels out there. Better use of time.

(Not really a good use of time, getting angry about it…)

But I’m a 45 year old stoner who just likes to rave about what I like, and stop watching what I don’t. So much more fun.

EXCEPT for Rogue One. F*ck that movie.

*Jokes it’s not that bad and there stuff I dig in it.

That was Eloquent, and well thought out.

I feel this way. Screw anyone who does not agree with me. I'm right. You are wrong.

Just kidding,...not really. Well sort of. No I was right the first time. Or was it the second?

I am kidding of course. If you like the prequels, sequels, Obi, BOBF, etc. it's all good. I just don't. I keep getting my hopes up and not only do I get let down, each one is worse than the last.

I thought Last Jedi was the low point. Then we got TROS. Wow. Then BOBF, even lower.

Obi was my last hope and it's worse than any of them.

I am sadly done with Star Wars. I am even getting rid of the few Prequel props that I liked as I want nothing other than OT and Mando in my collection, and I have a feeling after Season 3 of Mando it will be going too.

Non of the upcoming stuff holds the slightest interest for me.

Hell, I did not even see TROS until it had been on Netflix for like six months. Every Star Wars movie before I saw opening night.

There's a reason why these movies from the 70s and the 80s, cartoons as well, have stuck around for so long...because they were great...the only thing we've gotten since are retcons and redefining characters origins...why? Because they can't think of anything better or they would( except Stranger Things which is a tribute to the 80s). It's a money grab...we all know it and unless we are bowing like peasants to the current Nobles of Star Wars to feed us atleast something or we will all starve, then we get treated like we are the problem for not eating the scraps they throw down.

One other detail that now bothers me after I saw a Youtuber mention it, is the fact that this is 10 years later and Obi-Wan doesn't know about Vader. There's no way he knows what the Inquisitors are, but doesn't know about Vader. I forget the book, I think it was that Rise of Darth Vader book, but Obi-Wan hears the name Vader 1 year after ROTS. That makes a heck of a lot more sense.

I'm also still not convinced that Obi-Wan would be that out of practice with the Force or his lightsaber skills. I know a lot of martial skills need practice, but even doing practice without an opponent would still keep the muscle memory there. I think they just went a little too far to show he was out of practice. It wouldn't make sense for him to be protecting Luke and let himself go that much. He's supposed to have been prepared for Vader to show up on Tatooine at any moment.

I really agree with your sentiment...and that I've been trying my best to give them the benefit of the doubt but only to my dismay. We will always have the OT and that's good enough for me...THOSE ARE THE CHARACTERS WE LOVE AND WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER...not the current de-evolved versions...Star Wars was complete for me in 1983 and we can use our imaginations from there...like good stories should be. People make the argument that Star Wars is a large Universe...of course it is, then move on with different ideas and characters that aren't in the OT and stop trying to redefine them and piggy back off their well deserved success by using them as lures to make a quick money grab...move on into this large universe you profess Star Wars to be and tell your story without trying to ruin the integrity of it's foundation. I'm still feeding off the originals and am not impoverished as a fan at all, my food is well balanced and nutritious...but don't go around trying to pawn off your frozen Salisbury steak dinner when I got a Ribeye, asparagus and cheesy potatoes steaming on my plate...trying to convince me my food is a steak-um and canned hash. " but I like steak-ums and hash and Salisbury steak"...good for you...just don't call my Ribeye a steak-um or my Luke Skywalker a selfish, hopeless coward who turned his back on his own family, or my wise and sacrificial Obi wan into a confused, child led dipstick who can't figure out how to go around a laser gate.

I've said it before but I'm def a believer that the OT was lightning in a bottle and the likes of which will never happen again. In some ways, I think those movies worked due to a variety of lucky circumstances beyond GL alone. I think George was lucky to get the right people involved at the right place, at the right time. I also think budgetary and technological limitations helped to keep things more grounded. Most of the subsequent SW content has been lackluster to varying degrees. Of late, I have enjoyed The Mandalorian. While not perfect in my book, it does get a lot right as well.

One other detail that now bothers me after I saw a Youtuber mention it, is the fact that this is 10 years later and Obi-Wan doesn't know about Vader. I agree. It was discussed earlier but it's ridiculous in my mind that he hasn't heard of Darth Vader, through whatever means, in the span of 10 years, even on a far flung planet like Tatooine. It also makes zero sense that he would cut himself off from the Force (same nonsense introduced in TLJ) or whatever, not staying in practice when his sole priority is to watch over Luke and protect him if need be. That alone would be be all the motivation he should need to stay in shape and be ready to act. It made no sense for him to dismiss that Jedi that wanted help, essentially telling him to give up and that "we lost" but at the same time, still having designs to train Luke to be the "new hope". Why not just tell the guy to just hang tight, not all is lost, even as bad as things seem?

I don't hate the show but it definitely has not justified its existence yet, in my book. Obi-wan and Vader's "new" first encounter was laughably cringey and the ball was dropped mightily. Really, someone decided the big moment would now be in a backlot in some podunk village in the middle of nowhere? The whole thing felt cheap and phoned in, and I'm not even speaking of the fight itself. I actually didn't mind Obi-wan's lackluster performance because it doesn't make Alec Guinness' encounter with Vader look that out of place with their limited duel. However, I suspect we'll get cheeseball twirly PT-style action before all is said and done, which will render that praise null and void.

It baffles me that folks think Obi Wan's life was a straight line from the end of RotS to ANH, where he just hung out in the desert and meditated on the force until it was time to train Luke.

The man left his best friend to die, cooked by a river of lava. Of course he is going to have some PTSD after his best friend murdered nearly everyone who mattered to him, forcing him to go into exile on a backwater world where he can watch his friend's son grow up from a distance and hope to train him someday.

This series could only have been about how Obi Wan went from being broken to being the one we saw in ANH.

It was never going to be about how Obi Wan, ultra competent Jedi Master, galavanted around the galaxy while on his off time from being a hermit.
