Just to be clear, I have no problem with any efforts to preserve the Navajo language, or any language for that matter, regardless of which form that takes. I do have a problem with the original theatrical versions of the Original Trilogy movies not being preserved just because George "They're my movies" Lucas is throwing a tantrum like a spoiled ******.

But surely they had to get authorization/clearance/approval from Lucasfilm in order to do this legitimately. I can understand that; the movies have already been translated into any number of languages for worldwide distribution, so why not Navajo as well? As I wrote above, my problem is that ol' Georgie boy refuses to give the original theatrical versions of these movies (the ones that made him a multi-billionaire, btw) the respect they deserve.

Apparently it is in conjunction with Lucasfilm, the yahoo article doesn't do a good job in showing that. As far as ol' Geogie boy goes. Does he even have a say anymore in what versions are released?

I suppose that depends on the specific language in whatever contracts were drawn up to get the deal done, and/or whatever ownership/rights 20th Century Fox has (if any). Given Georgie Boy's apparent hatred of the theatrical versions, it wouldn't surprise me to find out he's taken every legal means possible to completely bury them until after he dies (and maybe even after).
