Should Picasso have painted only what his fans wanted?
Should Bob Dylan have stuck to folk music because his fans wanted it?
I'm not saying you've got to like the SE versions, but I don't understand people demanding George make changes because "the fans" want it.
It is what it is, and at the end of the day, it's George's universe to do with as he pleases.
First off, im not someone who believes that GL owes me something. He doesnt. He made a film, charged me to see it, and I either enjoyed it or did not. Simple.
What I think really annoyes people is how isolated GL seems to be from public perception. My guess is he has very little idea how disliked the SE editions are.
He has spent many years surrounding himself with people who will work his 'way', and that has had a seriously negative effect on the quality of his work.
I would love to know if when the SE's were produced, whether ANYONE, actually stood up and said ''er george, this really isnt very good''.
If so, I would also like to know whether that person still has a job.
Star wars is a funny old thing. If everyone who disliked the SE edition voted with their wallet, we would quite likely get what we really want.
When you combine the fact that anything GL releases sells + his highly sheltered understanding of public percetion, we will ony ever get the SE's
Oh well...wheres my wallet??...:lol
