Star Wars blu ray in September

Back in 1983 after Return of the Jedi was released in theaters George Lucas began the long and arduous wait for technology to catch up with his incredibly keen mind. NOW after twenty eight long years that day has come.

“We finally have the technology so I can add the words No, Noooo to the throne room scene when Vader redeems himself. It has been a long wait but now those words will be spoken. This is a culmination of my ongoing pursuit of what I think may be the final version of the original trilogy.” - George Lucas

Confirmed? By who?

As I said previous the Bluray rips are already circulating on the p2p networks, meaning preview copies have already been distributed, confirmation isn't hard for anyone that cares to confirm...

I think these are just the TV rips. I snagged the sample from one and it's identical to my TV rip, which is sounding better every day now :unsure

I'm sure there are 'fakes' especially on the public networks, but there are in fact legit Bluray rips out now that vary from the TV rips...

I sincerely believe that Lucas hates his fans. He says that he makes his movies for himself, and yet in earlier interviews he says that he made Star Wars for young people. He said that after he was done with the original trilogy in the mid eighties he wanted to do something other than Star Wars. Said the same thing when he was done with the crappy prequel trilogy. Then he created a Star Wars cartoon. He just can't let Star Wars go.

I honestly considered seeing The Phantom Menace in the theater in 3D (just for the novelty of it) and I honestly considered buying the BluRay so I could see my favorite films in the best format available.

But unless he has some intention of releasing the original theatrical versions in BluRay with the original soundtracks, then I have no interest in giving that man any more of my money.

Yes Star Wars is George Lucas' vision, but hundreds of people came together to help make that vision a reality. He didn't want to listen to them the further he went along, and he certainly doesn't care at all about the fanbase, even though WE were the ones who made him rich.

I feel sorry for George. Sorry that he doesn't know how to treat his fans. And the likelyhood of giving the public what they want, a properly restored, theatrical cut of the original trilogy, is not going to happen. He could do it. We all know he can. He has the resources, the original elements. It could be done. Just like other more talented directors do. Release a theatrical cut, and their own director's cut.

I have lost all faith in you George Lucas. It amazes me that you created a new world mythology (and the coolest adventurer in movie history) and ruined them both.

Despite what's been said, the Blu Ray rips are NOT yet floating around, and until we get confirmation one way or another, I'm taking these clips with a grain of salt.

Vader's NO is a really, really, really big deal. It's obvious what he's thinking, there's no need to dumb it down by spelling it out, the scene was fine before.

So dumb. So so so so so so so effing dumb.
Ok, explain how it's dumb. You admit it's what he's thinking (?), but you other than calling it "dumb," you don't rationalize your thought at all. It's not the long, droning moaning 'no' from Episode III, it's just 'no,' a quick note, the little proverbial light bulb going off in Vader's head vocalized.

I didn't say I liked it... it just didn't come off as that bad or that big a deal to me. I've definitely seen worse through the other releases over the years.

Everybody read this one, right? There are no Blu-ray rips available! And I'm not taking his word for it, either.. I haven't seen them either, and believe me, I would have.

So where is this information coming from? Friend of a friend of a neighbor's cousin's dog's sister's housekeeper who knows a guy?

I'll find out on Sept 16th, I'm not wasting my bandwidth downloading the rips (which, again, don't actually exist yet), when I plan to buy the set.

Whatever...

The Bluray 720P rips popped yesterday on p2p, and the 1080p rips popped today...

I have not only "seen" them I have "reviewed" and "compared" them to the German, British and Comcast HD rips... No hearsay here...

The whole point is that the changes are unnecessary. If they would only release the theatrical versions, restored properly to have the best picture and sound quality available, then I think that the fans would be happy! Just sell two versions. The director's cut, and the theatrical cut. Lucas is a business man. Why not give the public what it asks for? These changes get more and more ludicris as they go along.

I think it really shows more than anything else, a contempt for his audience. Which is always good, right? To show complete and utter contempt to the very people who helped make you the disgustingly rich bazillionaire you are today.

It's dumb because it didn't NEED to be vocalized. It was MORE powerful for NOT being vocalized. It has no subtlety or strength, as the silent look Vader casts has. It treats the audience as idiots and turns a moment of inner turmoil into outer melodrama. *****...I'm so horrified I can barely type. I hope this isn't true...

Content, whatever, I stood in line for all the originals, have em locked in, its all about the 1080p for me.
