Star Wars blu ray in September

The individual DVD releases have the original versions on the bonus features disc. They are the Laserdisc transfers, not very good quality but the best available for the unaltered versions.

I have the 4 DVD box set. I don't think the version you are referring to is included. Is that right?

That was the first original trilogy DVD release that was made before the individual 2-disc sets. 1 disc for the special edition (same exact disc), and another for the unaltered version (non-anamorphic).

UPDATE!!

It seems that the transfers for the original trilogy on BluRay are going to be restored the same way that the original DVDs. Some are even calling it the same masters with just a 1080p output. What does this mean?

- Darth Vader's lightsaber is pink in ESB and ROTJ, and Luke's lightsaber in ANH is still green on the Falcon.
- Blue filters up the wazoo. Hoth is now blue!

Thanks to none from the original trilogy.com for compiling this screenshot.

Are you basing these result on an actual review (if so, is there direct link)from someone who has seen the finished product or are you drawing your own conclusions?

Solo: Probably. I don't expect any changes from the DVDs in terms of fixing things. I think there will be a couple of new additions/changes here and there, but that's it.

If the DVDs taught us anything, it's that what we get is what we get, period. There will be no reissue, no fixed version. This is it. Not buying it as some form of protest is pointless.. this is going to sell a bazillion copies on day one, no matter how "bad" it is.

In other words, there's no reason not to buy it.. we'll never get anything better.

This is George Lucas Mara. All we needed was the confirmation that there wasn't going to be any unaltered version of the original trilogy to know that this BluRay. And really, you expect more from a trilogy that Lucas doesn't deem worthy of the industry standard anamorphic widescreen?

Maybe you can just make a setting on your big screen color options to "Lucas" where you can alter some of the tint and color to your liking and then whenever you watch the film s just switch to Lucas settings for a bit less saturation and whatnot. Might not fix EVERYTHING, but you do have a wee bit of control on newer TVs what sort of 'look' you want.

That's still speculation on the 2.35:1 isn't it?

Seriously? The colors are still gonna be THAT messed up??? :(

Little things like lukes saber color on the falcon are what they should have focused on when they were making the SE... Making the original clearer and hiding a few flubs or bad FX. Not dropping in new crap that doesn't remotely fit. Not to mention how aged the SE FX are... they aged worse than the ORIGINAL REAL FX!!!! (n)thumbsdown:thumbsdown

What? I don't recall any discussion about the aspect ratio.

I know the original amazon listing mention full screen HD and people took it to mean 16x9 and not widescreen and I thought that;s what the post i quoted meant.

Do we even know if the color bit is true? I can't believe they'd delay on BR this long and not fix it up a bit.

The new documentary stuff looks neat. Great examination of the models.

(As for the little performance in the booth by actors/RL members.... oy.)
