Sean, here are some pics of my static build I did using Maulfetts dome. The only things I changed from the dome kit are the antenna and the eye, after everyone got better reference shots of BB8 the eye is more shallow but that was an easy make with an ornament bulb, a dremel and sand paper, the antenna where off the shelf from a local auto parts store. For very little reference photos at the time, Maulfett nailed the head in my opinion.

Mine is on a 20 Poly sphere, and I have since added lights in the body as well.

Mix of painted circles and inner detail vinyl decals I had printed at a local shop. The rest of the body details are hand drawn using reference photos.

How did you guys hide the hole In the sphere? Would it be easier to buy two half spheres and glue them together so no holes are present ? Seriously thinking of making one since you did the heavy lifting so to speak. All that's left is the body lights and paint. Thanks for the hard work and info by the way.

Mine is still open as he is a static build for now, allows access to lights, speaker, I'm going to build a cap for it eventually that will lock in with tabs. Also helps to keep him from rolling around now

The dome fits really well on the sphere to allow for posing his head at most angles so he looks more "mobile" than he is.
