Star Wars Andor (Disney+ TV series)

A thought about that last scene in Episode 6...

I find the "pro-revenge" sentiment to be super interesting. The lesson there is that revenge is actually GOOD for your mental health?
Wow. That's super rare in entertainment.

Batman, are you taking notes?

Luthien: Go to Ghorman and learn what the resistance cell is like and report back, because I presumably value your opinion
(Andor does so)
Luthien: Your opinion sucks

In fairness, Luthen told him to go assess, which he did. Their argument was not over what he saw, but over these two things:

1. Cassian came back too soon, not long enough to properly assess, according to Luthen. Probably itching to get back to Bix ASAP, etc.

2. Cassian had opinions about what or what not to do next with Ghorman. Those opinions were not part of the job; Luthen clearly already has intentions for Ghorman, and Cassian's information gathering is in service to that.

I haven't gotten to episode 6 yet, so I'm going off of what I've seen through 5, but Luthen has to be looking at Bix as a liability. And we know what he does with people he thinks can threaten the resistance, just as he did with Mon Mothma's buddy.

Not an option. He already tried to blackmail the entire financial base of the fledgling Rebellion. Even if they pay him off, he's a loose cannon forever.

Needs of the many and all that.

When it comes to the rebellion/resistance etc.. beware the lady in the fancy dress.

That is rule number one.

Question them, or get on their bad side and you will either be sent off to die with a "thank-you" for your service or be killed and swept under the rug

One thing I like a lot about this series (Andor + R1) is the portrayal of Stormtroopers. They feel menacing and not just for cannon fodder.

Also the Sienar crew and test pilot flight suit are very cool. For us 501st members it's always great to have more toys to play with.
The nice thing about that costume is that for those who already have a regular TIE pilot costume, there are a lot of components that they can reuse. The helmet is the same, the chest box looks the same, about the only thing that I can tell, without studying the costumes in detail, is the flightsuit itself. It looks like even the gloves and boots are the same as on the standard TIE pilot costume. That;s definitely a good costume to have when you have to travel to a con since it seems to share so much with the regular TIE pilot costume.

The helmet is the same, the chest box looks the same,
There are pictures posted earlier in this thread ...

I see significant differences in details of both helmet and the armour. There is no chest box on top of the armour: the buttons and button boxes are part of the chest armour.
The belt box is also smaller than the OT belt box.

I noticed when watching the show that the wrist comm is more like the ones in Rogue One: with round physical buttons instead of round circles painted onto rectangular buttons.

He didn't make such a threat. He just asked to be paid. He didn't say "or else".
Luthien doesn't want to take the chance that it could go that way, yes. But it's pre-emptive.

That's not how blackmail always works. The perpetrator often leaves a strong hint, because they don't want to be quoted later with a specific threat. "Pay us for protection" is another example of that kind of power play.

But the tone was clear and the threat was crystal clear. There was no indication in that Mon was free to say no.

Naw, you're reading into it as much as Luthien. ;)

It seemed to me Luthien was more concerned that Tay was getting palsy-walsy with Davo Sculdun, whom he doesn't trust. Luthein has no confidence in Tay's ability to not let things slip or even take Davo into his confidence. THAT is what doomed Tay.

Tay having bad motives would undercut the regret that Mon is suffering in those three episodes: that the cause that she is championing has drawn her into a dark world she didn't anticipate, and that she can get an innocent friend killed just by asking them for help. Tay being up to no good would really weaken the tragedy and audience empathy for her in those episodes.
