I wonder why Uhura's 'Maru' uniform has that D-Ring on the shoulder?
Yep - I noticed that the second time I saw the film. I wonder what there purpose was.Actually they all have those shoulder rings, in the Maru simulation. You can see most clearly when McCoy turns around.
Actually it reminds me of the "Future" Starfleet uniform seen in "All Good Things", "The Visitor" and "Endgame"...

...a lot.

Good call.
And appropriate considering it's an 'alternate timeline'.
But it isn't an alternate timeline until after the incident on the Kelvin. Nero's arrival creates the alternate timeline.
Nero's act of time travel didn't 'create' the parallel reality. He simply 'arrived' there when his ship exited the wormhole. The parallel reality existed prior to his arrival. Writer Bob Orci has stated this on TrekMovie.com.
Maybe I did read it wrong. Here's how I understand it:What? That's just stupid if that's the case. I prefer the idea of altering the existing universe.
Aren't there already enough threads in the OT to complain about the script in? Do we really have to drag it in here too?
Ah, but the ENT uniform was almost "all blue", yes? Just a bit of division color around the shoulders. Mostly blue, I would say.One question- why is the captain in BLUE?
ENT command = gold. TOS command = gold.
