Star Trek TNG Playmates Phaser - Worth Upgrading?

I just stumbled across one of these and was wondering how close they are in size to the screen used prop?

The overall shape seems pretty nice. Worth doing a dremeling, paint job and filler on?

As far as the toys go, it's -pretty- decent compared to all the other phaser toys. Hardcore Trek fans probably wouldn't be happy with it, but it's not a bad project. Taking off the belt clip and sanding down that area really makes a difference. Here's my conversion.
