STAR TREK III: THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK PHASER PROP REPLICA

I am new to the board and I am feeling my way around. Can anyone recommend where I can purchase or commission a working Star Trek III: The Search For Spock Phaser? I keep seeing the 3D printed models but they are non-functional and for the most part unable to be made functional due to them being printed solid and not hollowed out. Although I see a few on ebay, they don't seem to be of good quality. Is there a master prop maker here that has one or would be able to do it. I could even add my own electronics if that would help. I just need one that is hollow and able to accommodate customizations. Thanks in advance for any help!

It's amazing how much in demand the Diamond Select toy/ replicas are. I'm surprised Diamond hasn't reissued them to cash in on that market. Still they are surprisingly accurate for the original price.

Nope. He was only allowed to do them through rodd.com and that deal eventually went south and then rodd.com was selling the hms version until they stopped selling all prop replicas a number of years ago.

The Diamond Select version of the ST:III phaser is a great starting point for a high-end build and I recently hired SD Studios to rework my three movie-era DST phasers (TMP, WOK, and ST:III unit) - see pics.

It’s hard to explain just how nice these units come out when reworked by a master builder like SD Studios. A tremendous amount of work goes into transforming these from a toy to a screen-accurate prop (including upgraded electronics/lighting), but they’re just beautiful when all that work is done. I smile each time I see them on the shelf. And they don’t just look great - he also weights them so they feel GREAT in the hand (i.e. they feel “real”).

So, if you want an exceptional version of this or any of the movie-era phasers, I’d definitely recommend a DST rework by SD Studios. Doesn’t get any better, IMO.

Those look AWESOME. I have the DST TMP and TWOK phasers, currently in stock form. I hope to stumble across ST:III one some day. Great collection!

Would this be the same SD Studios that has been banned here and apparently has filed for bankruptcy and owes money to a lot of people, or some other SD Studios? Because I certainly wouldn't be mailing off my DST phaser to not ever see it back again.
