Hello All,
This is my first post here. I've been visiting this site for years, mainly to observe. I've loved props for as long as I can remember. The first thing I ever built was a poor attempt at the Blade Runner gun way back in '82. I created it from an old cap gun, balsa wood, and some old model parts I had lying around. (I wish I still had the gun.) I was 16 at the time. That was it; I had the bug. After that, I've built other things over the years—some scratch builds and a few kits, mainly Sci-Fi and primarily guns.
That brings me to the reason for this post. I spotted the ST Beyond Frankin phase pistol and knew I had to add it to my ever-growing collection. I could have downloaded a model from the internet, but where's the fun in that! So I decided to model the gun in Fusion 360 and 3D print a copy for myself. By the way, I had to teach myself 360. I got the printer last year as a Christmas gift. That’s something else I still need to work out.
I just finished the gun, which I modeled on John Eaves' original concept art and every screen grab I could find. Now that the model is complete, I'm not sure what slicer to use. (I use a Mac.) I'm also looking for any advice or a useful link to get started with the printing process. Here are images of the inspiration as well as the finished gun model. I would love some feedback. Thanks!
