Star Destroyer Avenger part ID help please

Hey Chrome,

Thanks for the input !

I will wait to get my kit and see if the part which appears several times on the ISD can be easily cast or not (at least the deck on the back of the bridge).

Ok Tox, seems I've made my first casts for this project.:)
btw the long part has undercuts but they are still easy to cast..

Thats the ribbed part, fits perfect or not?

Yeah already 900 posts :D

Ok I received the Demag and the Enterprise today, the enterprise is awesome ! I dont know if I do castings or grab another !

I layed on the parts I have of the portside :

Another miss for the Treadster! :lol
I see now the Sealab part would be too big. The Avenger's big, but not THAT big!

The only thing I've guessed so far is your working on something star wars related...... I really think you guy's are incredible when it comes to IDing & scratch stuff. Julien sir you are a star. also to let you know I'm back in Paris in April sometime for round 2 of lets annoy the girlfriend with star wars talk.:lol

pardon my ignorance chaps but could someone explain what they mean by " Under cut" its always gone over my head? Thanks in advance

Thanks Guy ! Actually Chrome and Lee are stars ;) They did great finds ! ;)

Cool I would be glad to meet you again and get another great Star Wars talk ! Let me know once you're know the dates ;)
I'm not sure my GF will want to come again after our star wars talk ! :lol Haha I'm just kidding, I know she likes Star Wars even if she doesnt understand our madness about the models, she prefers the costums

As for the undercuts, I'm not the best guy to explain what it is, like many english words I dont understand them but I cant even translate them in french (maybe I dont understand them after all :lol).
Well the undercuts are the recesses created by the kitparts, the ISD bridge front is one of the best exemple since it's full of undercuts... Those are those undercuts which are filled with clay prior to casting a whole part assembly. That's why I'm not too fan of the kits except if all parts come appart which is not often the case...
Those undercuts creates depth and shadows with good lights. :)
Undercuts are mainly space between a part and the base or another parts...

Hope it helps :)

Well finally I'm not sure about the Enterprise kit...
I think that's more the Hornet kit !
Or maybe both ;)
The Hornet and the Enterprise share most of the same parts since they are sisterships and same version, they had just some modifications.

Here's why I think that's the Hornet :

Those "shelves" (I dont know the name sorry) are not rounded like the Enterprise's but are flat :

What do you think ?

Hey Tox!

I was aware that the Hornet and Enterprise are very similar ships and I decided the Enterprise is it, but now I dont know why?!:rolleyes
Now that I see your pic of the Hornet.. damn, you're right on that!
Good research Tox!!:thumbsup

Luckily almost all parts are still usefull and maybe both kits are used as you have already said.
However, we need a Hornet, or two :cool

btw, well explained undercuts !

Hey Chrome,

TBH I used the Enterprise parts, I just sand them ;)
But maybe the Hornet shares more part... Too bad I found the Hornet 2 min after I bought another Enterprise... :lol

You sand them? hehe.. Tox, you are smart !:cool

Another Enterprise huh? Well, one can't get enough Enterprise kit's :lol
Lets see if i can find a Hornet...

Hey Tox!

Haven't found a Hornet yet..but I let you know once I have.
For your parts question: Part 1 is from the Shinano, I'm looking for the others too..

Any progress on your Avenger?

Hey Chrome !

What's up ?

Thanks, I should have studied my Shinano a bit better... :p

No real progress on my avenger, only cut the kitparts, I assembled the whole port side of the bridge though...

I redid my drawings because they were a bit off... I'm waiting for the more parts I can have before getting the plexi parts lasercut ! ;) Cuz the parts themselves costs only $15 to be cut but the shipping to france is $40 so that's some money ;)

Parts 3 looks like towers from 70-80's aircraft carriers to me...

I bought the Hasegawa Essex since it was used in ANH on the X-Wings and Sandcrawler, but nothing from this kit... :sleep

Hey Julien, part 3 do you mean the likes of Nimitz class/John. F. Kennedy type modern carriers?. Could possibly be from the 1/800th Minicraft kits?( reissued by many manufacturers). Italeri produce 1/720th carriers but I'm not sure if these were available when 'Empire' was being made?. I have a few of these kits so I'll check them out.
