Star Blazers - Space Battleship Yamato live action movie

Realeases in Japan in about 2 weeks.. I might not be able to understand them but it should be cool to watch.. I better get that Blue ray player soon

720p un-subtitled copies are floating around on the internet. Below are some screen captures. If anyone wants anything specific let me know.

Some friends and I hope to dress as characters blending elements of the anime and this live action movie at the San Diego Comic-con.

Woah! Analyzer (IQ-9) looks like a badass. haha. I can't wait to see this movie! Although I kinda want to wait out hope to see it in a theater first. I feel like it would just be that much more epic.

That all does look really good. I hope it comes out as a subtitled Region 1 blu-ray so I can get to see it...or in theaters.

It may be a while before it comes to the US. I heard talk that a legit DVD version is coming out in Australia in December. However, I imagine a fan sub-titled version will be out sooner.

Here's what's available now as official releases on DVD and Blu-Ray. Be aware that these are Region 2 NTSC discs (not playable in the United States). Also, they contain the original Japanese dialog without any English language or subtitles.

I ordered the special Blue Ray non region set. Still waiting, but I don't care about no English subtitles.

I have watched it twice.. I can only wounder how much better it will be when I know what they are saying :D

What a terrible shame they didn't even bother to make the DVD with English subtitles.

They would have quadrupled their sales.

Hypothetically were I have to watched it I would hypothetically say it was awesome.
And hypothetically even my wife unfamiliar with the source material would have enjoyed it as well.

Is there a 2010 Yamato model yet?

Guys, keep in mind that Japan was hit with one of the most massive earthquake/tsunami one two punches in their history a few months ago. A lot of "in progress" things more than likely got put on hold. International DVD/Blu-Ray release scheudles are probably just starting to come back on line.

It could have made it worse sure, but Japanese goodies has always been tough to get over here in a timely fashion.

Of course, I now expect an American remake announced any day now.

Space Battleship Arizona!

I would like to say that I have "hypothetically" have seen it as well, but I can't

Star Blazers relevant but not about the movie. I saw this posted on the official Star Blazers Facebook Page

"Makoto Kobayashi, mecha designer of Yamato Resurrection and occasional employee of Enagio Studio announced at the closing ceremonies of Anime Expo that he is currently contributing to a remake of Star Blazers! (He actually meant Space Battl...eship Yamato but used the English title for the benefit of the American audience.)

This confirms what we learned last December in Tokyo for Yamatour 2010. At our farewell dinner with the staff of Yamato Party, we were told that they had seen pre-production art for a new TV series that would remake the original. Story development had been underway for quite a while, scripts were written, and designs were being worked on. These are the pickiest Yamato fans on Earth, and they were very impressed by what they saw.

In fact, I saw some of the mecha designs myself by accident; I purchased several collections of model sheets from Yamato Resurrection last year, and a few dozen images from the new series somehow slipped in. They're mostly Yamato interiors, reimagined with new technology. The exterior of the ship is largely unchanged and has already been seen by many; we were told that the 1/500 Bandai model kit released in December is essentially the new TV version. The designs that fell into my hands also included fighter craft and a few pages of Gamilas ships. There were also some text documents with very early concept notes about important points to be developed.

The most critical data has not yet been announced: when and how it will debut. Kobayashi's announcement merely confirms that he is working on the project for next year. No other details are available, but we'll keep watching."

Let's try this... | Facebook

CORRECTION: I picked up the SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO 3-DVD Box set. The discs are NOT PAL as originally thought, but are actually NTSC discs with Region 2 encoding.

I have the Blue Ray set and it plays in my player. It was stated that it was a non region set. It's funny that some stuff is in English.
