Staff of Ra, Noble Collection

I wish it were me, but I'm waiting on a return mail to confirm some details not present in the photo.

It's better looking than alot of the other Indy stuff to come out. Anyone pick up that golden idol piggy bank?

You got it, Brad. The rest from what I can tell came from an original so I can see no reason why the slot should not be present. So far I'm very impressed with what I see.

Anyone have confirmation on the lineage of the piece? I didn't see anything on the website that made any kind of claims, but I'd like to know if there's any "on the street" word about where it came from.

It looks pretty cool, and I"m tempted to get one. If anything, just to help fuel the market for more high end, accurate indy stuff.

I'm curious if the text on the backside matches the movie or if it's a duplicate of the front. It would have also been nice if it would have come with Marion's chain for displaying purposes.

Think they will come out with a full size Ark?

I agree about the Ark. I doubt it would be cost effective for any company to first, afford the license and then put them out for sale. They'd have to be way overpriced to make any substantial amount of money off of them and money is the bottom line.

Matt, based on a couple of tells I'd say this was cast off an original. Little do they know that if they would have chosen the Raven Bar/Map Room version of the headpiece it would have been the first time it was available in ANY market. Nobody had ever made one, fan or licensed copy.

Ahhh, the raven bar version is the one Ive always wanted :love . I dont know why but I think it looks more well made, more perfect. Maybe its cause Ive never actually seen it up close (or a close-up picture). I agree on the chain. The best way to display this prop would be hung on an old scull candle holder like the one in the movie. BTW anyone know what animal that is? Hey, isn't it time someone did a run of those in resin so we cold hang our headpieces from it?

BADS NEWS, KIDS. :angry

I just got off the phone with the Noble people and they dropped the ball on this as well. I'm kinda sad, but used to it by now.

There is NO slot on the bottom. It is solid as all the other Ebay headpieces are. The CS girl had one in her hand as we spoke. She told me it was cast from an original but they must have sealed up the slot on the bottom. She told me it's exactly what was seen in the movie but I explained that there is supposed to be a slot there as it was in the film and on the originals sold at auction last year. I told her I can send the photos to prove it and she had nothing to say.

If you want it the total with tax/shipping is $137.95 unless you're in Virginia where more tax is added.

So...the quest marches on for perfection since even when cast from an original, they still can't give it to us.

Oh, and PH, the Raven HP is not a found item. One was sculpted at ILM, the other at Elstree, hence the difference in the two.

Hopefully there will be double licensees (efx or Sideshow?) on props like what happened with LOTR- UC and NC for swords, etc. But realistically, the Indy collector market is somewhat small compared to SW, Trek, Potter, etc. so this might be the one chance to get a casting that is known to be from an original with no multi-generational shrinkage- that is if it's not a cleaned-up/idealized version of the casting, which NC is known to do.

Ok, since no one else has asked yet... Since we know(?) that this is from an original, how hard would this be to simply put the slot in the bottom ourselves? It's pewter so it's not a very rigid metal, so drilling in a slot wouldn't be that difficult.... unless they resculpted the bottom of the headpiece to NOT allow the addition of the slot....

Okay, I admit it, I don't know much about Indy props. I always thought that there was only one version of this thing in the film. What's the difference between this version and the one Marion had? Any pics?

It's not much, but here:

The Marion version is on the left, and a production headpiece is on the right. Even in the screen cap, you can see the differences in the wings, tail feathers, etc...

I always liked how the Ravens bar version had that angle to the wings. This version with a chain WOULD be cool if someone did a licensed version just make the Luasfilm stuff on a well hidden spot.
