SS for CGI ships?

question 1.) What would studio scale be for CGI ships? (like the new BSG Viper Mark VII)

question 2.) Other than the SSM store is anyone else making the above mentioned kit?

thanks!

1) They're 'models', and may indeed be nailed at a particular scale, but they're not SS models.
2) Only source I know of is SSM, but I've seen a few built up, just never actually looked into who provided the kit. I can think of a couple of folks here who will hopefully jump in or PM you. Best of luck getting a rocking kit.

thanks, I guess I'm wondering if there is a SS "standard" size? So if there are no actual SS models they are made to be XX big.

I think its safe to say there are quite a few of us that consider them to be 1:24 scale, at least for the fighters. Fits in nicely with several studio scale subjects as well.

"Studio Scale" is simply a way of describing a model that is a replica of an FX model, matching the original's dimensions and as close to the original in detail as the builder cares to come. Its just that simple. CGI models have no actual dimensions, so the closest you can come to this description is to make a physical replica at a size that the model would have been built, for filming purposes. But since no physical model was ever in front of a camera, no CGI-based model could be called Studio Scale and be true to the term. It would just be a big model. Or a small one. Or a medium sized one.

Studio Scale is no different from any other scale; it just means it replicates something that was in front of a camera and the scale may or may not be known.
