SS Betty (Alien Resurrection)

i`m fruely impressed with your build mym8.its a master piece!please keep us posted on ya progress....thanks peza

Got a little done on the lower wing section. the part is Asymetrical so one side is cut a little bigger for kit parts.

Also got the laser up and running will be cutting parts tomorrow night. had to get all the software and adjustments for the laser going. and adjust all the print settings in Autocad. Not to bad once you read through all the directions..

and also picked up a vacuum pump and chamber. and started getting parts ready to mold. now that all thats done. need a shop clean again.

Thanks for looking.

First cuts with the laser went great. drawing out some parts for the betty now. and also for the Sulaco. so hopefully by saturday will be able to cut some parts. Work has been crazy this week, we are filming a Discovery channel science show and hopefully it wraps up today and i can get back to a normal schedule.

Hi,I really enjoy every of your progress, nice work, especially molding n casting cause now Im on the progress learning that.
May I ask,I can see youre not using any pressure machine on your molding,n I see your molding like totally out of bubbles, how you do
that, can you give some tips on doing molding please, thanks.

What i do is mix the silicone. do the long pour. with a very thin stream, that will help break up any air. pour into the lowest spot or tilt the mold and pour into the corner. let the silicone find its own level. by doing this it will fill slowly and force the air out. once the mold is filled i like to tap it on the table for a few minutes to help any remaining air trapped work its way out.

as for a vacuum pump i just picked one up a week ago. for the bigger molds i need a little more help. so i degas the silicone.

Ok got a little done, Cut out the details and scribed some lines on the lower part of the cone. And also test fit the triangular parts behind the main engine support. Next im going to be molding the cone and casting some parts. Also getting a few more parts ready to mold now that my clay arrived. A few pics for you guys.

Thanks for looking.
