Thanks everyone who took the time to upload the reference images! I'm rounding the final corners on getting my own Rey saber's outside dimensions correct and I couldn't have gotten this without the material here.
I've done a few test prints to get the proportions right in my wife's hands and am finishing up the interior bits for the electronics.
By any chance has anyone got screen grabs of Rey as she goes into the moisture farm on Tatooine? We saw the movie again tonight and she's carrying the saber on her hip.

TerranCmdr, really loving the way you hinged those side pieces. That engineering is pretty epic, and I hope it prints well. I've gone a different direction with the opening hinges, and I desperately hope it works. I've put an embarrassing amount of time into figuring out how it all should move.

Was that printed all in one piece, or assembled? I see small recesses on the underside of the "petals." Is that were the lifter mechanism will sit?
Yours is the first I've seen that has the base of the triangles as rounded, forming a circle when closed. Looks like everyone else is using flat edges, myself included. I think that circle looks really sharp! I might give that a shot.

For a saber that looks like it's made of junk it's kind of complex.. Makes up for how ugly it is The thickness of it turns me off I think. It looks giant. As always, the work done here is jaw dropping. AMAZIN'!!

I finished the exterior of the CAD model and did a low quality test print to get a feel for the scale and layout out the guts. I made some changes from my previous post after seeing some of the other sabers on here, so thanks everyone for sharing. I'm happy so far, but always willing to receive feedback.
Once the design goes a few days without me making moderate changes, I'll hang it on Thingiverse.
