**SPOILERS** New RoS prop image **SPOILERS**

I've managed to find a good shot of the new belt grip slot. That's going to hurt if you catch your hand on it.

Lol. I have a pretty good idea of how this could work. Tell me what else is needed. Blade acceptance? Battery compartment?

I know others will want it, but I don't need full FX functionality, so if it isn't possible to make it fit the blade and all, I'd just like to be able to have the LEDs that light blue/green/yellow prior to igniting.

Not sure if this fits the bill for you, as it's definitely not the caliber of kylegilbert's (or any of the other opening emitters on here), but I'm modding my designs to fit the blade and electronics to follow this tutorial:

The emitter is fixed to allow for the tube with the neopixel LEDs inside.

Tonight I'm doing my last test print for fitting and tomorrow I'll move on to modifying the code for the Feather microcontroller. But it press fits a 1" polycarbonate tube and the electronics will fit into the handle. I mean, the dimensions accommodate them. How nice I make my wiring will determine how well things fit... The next few days will tell...

I was curious how mechanically you guys are getting the sunflower to open up

Wicked!!

Anyone else think it looks like they scaled down the staff parts overall to make the whole saber a bit smaller? At fullsize, it ends up longer than a graflex. This is clearly about the same length once you include the pommels. From VanOaksProps.

Boy is that a fact. When I did my first print at a scale that I pulled off of a previously made Rey staff, it was HUGE. Comically large. I'll get pictures later. It's ridiculous.

So I remade it and scaled it down to my wife's hand, which was her four fingers stacked came in at 80mm tall. This is what I came away with for measurements.

I posted this in the end saber thread.
Real Graflex next to the staff I made for my niece.

Staff section used for saber is exactly 12".

Since the prop shop 3d printed the staff than it would have been easy enough to scale it down.

Like I said before-- I think it looks comically large and toy-ish in the ding dang movie. Even the screencap above, it looks impossible to wield.

The other question, which someone may already know the answer to, is how is she attaching it to her hip? Did she slide it under her belt? If not, I’m curious what method of attachment they went with. I doubt it’s got a D ring.

One of the "Darth Maul" style radiator fins was lifted away from the body of the saber and serves as a grip clip.
