Spock TOS Tunic - Any good sources?

I'd like to do a TOS Spock for Halloween.

Was the original uniform velour? There's a eBay seller that does blue velour for $100, but that seems a bit steep.

Does anyone know of any good makers of Trek TOS tunics?

I presume you're speaking of murraymousie's $99 tunic. It's okay, for a halloween costume, but if you really want an authentic one you're going to have to spend probably $350-400, and currently no one I trust is making any.
BTW, first and second seasons, satin velour. Third season, some sort of double knit fabric.

Anything less than than the $100 one is most likely a rubies, and they are truly garbage, unless you want a bloodied up halloween costume for Zombie Trek, or you plan on spilling copious amounts of booze on it, or......

Yes it is made of Velour. (first and second season) I know some people buy from roddenberry.com, however I haven't started on any Trek uniforms yet, so I couldn't tell you that much about them.

Seriously? You want a "good" tunic for less than 100.00? I don't mean to insult, but dammit you cheap *******! :lol
Mousiemurrie is your best bet. I have a few of hers and she's class all the way and makes an awesome product. I'm honestly surprised her items don't go for more.
Less than 100.00? And you want something that looks good? I think you'll be hard pressed. 100.00 is actually VERY reasonable for a custom fit, very acurate TOS uniform top with the hidden zipper.
But hey, if you find something better in your hunt, please share.

:lol No offense taken... I am a cheap S.O.B.:cool

Thanks for the feedback. In all seriousness, it is just a Halloween costume for me. Don't know if I need to go all out on this. Once you add a tricorder, phaser, and communicator, spock wig, ears, boots, etc... it adds up.

I was just wondering if there's anything in the $50 range that makes a suitable Halloween tunic.

murraymousie is great! She's making a alternate universe science's division Defiance tunic with 2nd season katarra rank braid for me right now. Her quality is great and it is custom made for you! All for $100.00!

I'm in the same boat.

Wife wants a TOS dress for halloween. I'm more than capable of sewing it, but I'm currently on the Velour hunt.

Any suggestions?

This is the only place that seems to have it in stock right now.

They recently revamped their website, and unfortunately, removed all information about fibre content from their descriptions (duh!). This should be the same stretch cotton/poly blend velour I bought from them once before, which was perfect 1st/2nd season fabric. But you should call them just to be sure. The choice of reds, if you're doing Uhura color, is up to you - neither is a perfect match for the deep red used on TOS. I personally prefer the bright red to the burgundyish red.

Cheers.

Starfleet Uniforms used to, but that was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.........

That link's great! Thanks!
She wants a blue dress, and that baby blue looks great.
