SpiderSparrow's TASM Build (Suit Finished!!! Skateboard Pics! 11/1/12)

Re: SpiderSparrow's TASM Build (Suit Finished!!! PICTURES)

Thanks man! Every time you compliment me I feel like I'm talking with the spidey president or something, lol.
Yeah, I've thought about doing the battle damage suit. I am going to make it look really used and dirty, but I'm not going to do any tears yet, just because I don't want to risk ruining my suit before the Halloween season is over.

Spidey president? Haha you're funny! More like an ambassador or a veteran maybe. I'm just trying to keep an eye out for all my Spideys, help wherever I can and give props to everyone putting together their own suit. I especially like when people get ingenious and tackle little aspects of the suit that are often overlooked or considered too difficult to replicate. Like I said, you did a great job with what you had. I would't rip anything on the fabric itself if you're doing battle damage though, just give it the effect with airbrush. Like the 3 claw marks on the chest can just be dark shadows across like Peter already repaired the rips kinda thing.

Whatever you decide to do, great work and kudos for keeping to budget, deadlines, detail work and overall likeness!

Thanks for all the nice compliments! :)

Looks really good mate. Outstanding work especially for the money spend.

Thanks! And speaking of money... In the end I spent about $100 on this build. And that was the budget I wanted to stay within.

I like that idea about making the claw marks look repaired.
I don't have an air brush though, but I'm sure I could still come up with a way to creat the ripped illusion. I'm going to do the weathering with spray paint. No worries though, I'm not going to ruin my suit. I've been weathering stuff with spray paint for years because I'm too cheap to buy an air brush. Haha

Well, I haven't even weathered mine yet, haha. But I'll try to take some video when I do weather it, and you can just copy what I do.

My only dilemma with the weathering is that I need someone the same size as me to wear it while I weather it, or I need a mannequin to put it on, and I have neither. I am planning to make a mannequin of myself soon using the plastic wrap and duct tape method, but that may be a while as I'm dirt broke right now.

Re: SpiderSparrow's TASM Build (Suit Finished!!! PICTURES)

U guys are sping a cool job i might order my own suit BUT spidersparrow how would i make my own lenes?

Re: SpiderSparrow's TASM Build (Suit Finished!!!)

Yeah, they are a bit high, but I just wanted to add to them a little so it didn't just look like I had shaving cream caps on my suit, haha. I may invest in some good web shooters later on, but for now these work.

As promised, here are pics from the party! I didn't have a chance to take good pics today, but I will eventually.

I didn't tell anyone that I was making a spider-man costume, so the day before the party I threw together a Peter Parker outfit and had my skateboard and vintage camera, so everyone thought that was my costume. And about 10 minutes into the party I went to the bathroom and changed into spidey. It was pretty cool. Sadly I don't have any pics of that, but I'll put it on again and take pics soon.

I think I'm going to weather my suit, I don't like how vibrant the colors look, and it would help make the imperfections in the honeycomb less noticeable.

I'm not super happy with the black lines on he blue, I Might go over them with 2 lines of puff paint to make them look more accurate. It's just black sharpie right now. I had to get my sister to do those actually (with a lot of guidance and freaking out from me), so that I could wear the suit to make sure they were lined up right.

I won't lie. When you first started, I had my reservations because the colors seem a little weird, but now, all I can think is, "WOW!" This turned out great! Especially the picture in my quote up there ^^ You can totally see all of the honeycombing and your eyes through the lenses. Nice job!!

Awesome job AND on the cheap! Very impressive and you really do pull off the Garfield look, too.

This one is not edited, it's just me swinging from my white rope swing. (Yes, I did in fact make a white rope swing simply so that it looks like web, haha)

Looks awesome! 99.9 % perfect Sorry about the top of your head webs.

Re: SpiderSparrow's TASM Build (Suit Finished!!! NEW PICTURES 10/29/12)

Thanks for all the nice compliments! :)

So I've been strongly considering puff painting the honeycomb on this suit, I'll probably do just the red honeycomb, because I'm afraid that if my suit is completely covered in puff painted honeycomb it will get all stretched out and not fit correctly, but none of the red sections are in high stress areas that get stretched from movement, so I don't think it will be a problem if I do only the red. I could take my time with it now sense I don't really need the suit for anything anytime soon. But I would love to have it looking totally legit to wear to the premier of TASM 2 whenever it comes out.

So here's my to do list for this suit in the future:

1. Make a mannequin form of my own body to put the suit on while working on it.

2. Make a new mask with accurate web lines and an invisible zipper up the back of the neck.

3. Do some weathering/muscle shading on the suit.

4. Puff paint the red honeycomb.
