Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Lenses have arrived!

So that's what that shipping notice I had gotten earlier in the week was, awesome! Can not wait to see how they turned out. What material did you get them in?

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Lenses have arrived!

I got mine in white, strong and flexible just like me :) The nozzle is in frosted ultra detail Wasn't any need for a polish on the larger parts, could have used it on the fluid canisters though

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. 3D Print has arrived!!!

Fitment is pretty good. The pegs that snap into the base are a little large but its nothing that careful sanding with an emery board wont fix. The cartrides came out with a lot of imperfections, little small bumps and ridges that will need some model filler and sanding but I expected that . The nozzle and cartridge nest perfectly in their spots. and I cant wait to start working on these.

The underside of the base leaves a ton of room to add magnets, a watch battery and even a circuit if someone wants. Heres a couple of quick photos.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. 3D Print has arrived!!!

What kind of paint will everyone be using?

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. 3D Print has arrived!!!

I'm thinking I'll be using a color shift paint, that goes from the SA blue to a purple as light hits it...its not SA that way, but it'll add pop

RustOleum.com

Great idea on the paint!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what people put on the face, such as the circuit people have been mentioning and what type of red 'bubble'.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. 3D Print has arrived!!!

So because I know nothing of circuitry and electronics I have decided to see if there is anything that can do the work for me.
I found these. Just a little bigger than the size of the battery. I wonder if they will fit under the shooter face.
They have them in Red too.
I would be sad not having the on/off control in my gloves though. :/

EDIT: These little fellas are called Tea Light and can be found on Amazon.com

I am assuming the plastic casing is too big to fit. But if you take the chip, battery, and light out of the plastic we may have something. Still don't know how these are suppose to turn on....

epilepticsquirl~
Do you think gluing this mystery micro chip on the bottom part of your laser cut lenses will look good with a Tea Light underneath there?
Im just spit ballin here folks.

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

Depending on how big those are they might be able to work. Also, it shouldn't be too hard to hard wire those lights with a switch.

Moreover I think you might be better off just drilling and wiring a simple LED than trying to retrofit that to work with the shooters.

With that said, big update on the 1st post, I got my shooters in today; woohoo!

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

I got mine today as well! Now, while I wait for the left inner piece and the fluid indicator pieces it'll be time to start planning the details. Cogs, electronics, paint etc...

Re: Spiderman web shooter: A collaborative project. Even more 3D Print Goodness!!!

So, do the acrylic discs fit good?

Some interest here too. I'm trying to make these actually using a watch and taking out the clockwork inside. The watch I have isn't exactly like a webshooter, but it has some features on it which could give me some nice customisation options, such as a built in LED light. This is the watch I am using:
