Spiderman Noir costume(In the works and pics galore)

finally tracked down some decent stripped pants, Ill have to run them through a dark gray dye wash when they come in by Monday, it will be cutting it close, I leave Tuesday night. also boots are scheduled to get here either today or tomorrow and the vest will probably be done by saturday or sunday, heres a pic of the pants, they are pirate pants but they sell it in a gray/ black striped version. Im still going to put them through a dark dye bath to make the stripes stand out less and the grey more prominent. Its either these pants, striped slacks or black flat slacks

Loctite super glue should be just fine. What you've really got to do is make sure you rough up the back of the emblem (which is a shore 60 urethane) with some low grit sandpaper. Rough up the vest too (sad... I know... it's beautuful!) and be careful to only scuff where the emblem will cover. apply a thin bit of glue to the emblem and press on, align the way you'd like and then set something heavy on it and let it sit for a couple hours. It should go off in like ten minutes but just be really safe and leave it for as long as you can. After a while remove whatever you set on it and make sure it's stuck on there. I glued some felt to a shore 60 urethane cowl using this method. Thought it'd be temporary but when I went to remove it it took some freakin' yanking... Still some felt on the thing... Can't wait to see it done bud!!! Pirate pants look great!

Here are first glances of the back of the vest, still have quite a bit of work but its dead on so far.
Im dyeing the sweater tonight probably leave it in the dye bath no longer then 10-20 minutes so it doesn't get to dark

vest is looking good! If your sweater doesn't come out dark enough you can use Design Masters floral and fabric spray paint to do some extra weathering. Do light mistings of both black and dark brown to do an overall darkning and then go a little heaver in wear spots, like near the hands. This Spiderman crawls around the alleys of the crime ridden 1930's, He's got to be a little rough around the edges.

that's actually is a very good idea Ill pick some of that stuff up tommorow if the dye doesnt work. thanks for the suggestion. you going to SDCC this year knowone251?

it really depends on what lighting your going for

i kind of like the sort of greenish tint personally

but Kaki would make it ever slightly more brown

in alot of the shots ive seen the vest looks to be a dark brown rather than a black, but it matches up, the spider logo especially.
are you running from a pattern?
looking superb!

Yeah in alot of the shots it does look brown, but the game has that stupid filter. even in some gameplay you play in a black and white style to blend more towards the 30's.

there was no pattern used. My friend made it from scratch then made a mock vest to fit and then she cut the final pieces from the mock vest pieces.

yeah I wont know till more screens come out wether or not im close the only thing im certain on is the mask, vest and pants color. In a in-game shot I posted above spiderman is in front of a spot light and the mask looks brown and so does the vest. Thats how I determined that they are of the same color, because in the actual commercial showing the close up shots of the mask its black.

Im going to run a few swatches of the sweater fabric through the dye bath and take them out at certain intervals to find the closest one.

and in this pic its black. this is a pic from the main menu with no lighting effect used at all so naturally i can assume this is the actual color

makes sense... damn! i really liked the brown rocketeer look.. i may go for closer to that if i ever do this costume.

so the dye went good. Its about 2-3 shades darker then before which is perfect, I didnt want it to get to dark. heres pics, it definitely looks more drab brown now.

Quick update got my emblem in the mail today, actually almost lost it due to my idiotic mailman delivering it to the wrong apartment but lucky enough my neighbors are good people so they returned it to me. I'll post some pics when i slap the bad boy on there later

Sadly no, this will be the first year since '05 that I haven't gone. And of course its rumored that Daft Punk will be playing a set from the Tron Legacy sound track. Just not enough $ to swing it.
