Spiderman Costume DIY

I don't know about that, but I'd love a discussion about the potential of making DIY spidey suits.

Would they be 100% movie accurate? No. However, I like the idea of ad hoc Spidey suits, since it, to me, would feel like retracing Peter Parker's steps.

Has anyone ever shown the results of a heavily modified Zentai/morph suit? There's got to be something that can be done using morph suits and craftily used spray latex or sprayed tinted-plastidip.

CONJECTURE MODE, ACTIVATE!

Look at the suit for the new movie. If you took a blue morph suit, put it on a lifecast, very well made ducttape manni, or maybe even yourself if you're nuts enough, and then found something that could mask out the hexagonal pattern, you might have a start. Say finding a hexagonal-mesh that wasn't porous, wrapping that over the morph suit under layer nice and tight (going by taped off colour section).

Then, maybe you could carefully spray appropriately coloured latex or plast-dip over that, then peel off the hex mesh when the latex/plast starts to get tacky, leaving your stippled hexagonal raised texture in the colour you want.

As I said, all conjecture. You'd have to have nearly perfect conditions, the spray would almost certainly get under the hex mesh, and you're almost certainly going to lose most of the suit flex. And even then it won't look just like the movie suit.

But they must have made the movie suit somehow, and if it wasn't by spray (it almost certainly wasn't), then it must have been by some painfully elaborate manual application process. Maybe it was applied with some weird sort of latex stamp. But I'd like to see what not-full-coverage-spraying would do on a morphsuit. You might end up with nice results (assuming the mannequin is close enough to your size and shape) that are uniquely your own!

I'm considering trying this INSANE idea in about 6 months. It probably won't work. :D

But imagine if it did! I've seen RPFers do amazing things of late with not much more than foam, glue, plastidip and paint. I bet someone has the talent needed to figure out a "Peter Parker Method" spidey suit.

So. DIY Spider-Man Suit: Idiotic idea, or potential for amazing innovation?
I hope innovations. We're a rambunctious and creative lot.

spidermancostumediy is a decent costume, they look fine once made, looks pretty legit but it's not an exact replica

Does anyone know if these come in a .psd format where you can adjust the colors, spider emblems and things like that?

i don't know about the emblems, but i bought the pattern and my friend turned the red/blue into black in photoshop since i (think) i'm going to be the symbiote from the movie, so adjusting the colors should be pretty easy to do if you know how. now i'm just trying to find somewhere reasonable to print...

I've been told by someone who knows more than I do on the subject...someone that had a copy of what is called "the original Sony file", SpidersuitMaker on the SHH boards that that pattern on the diy site is the "spidey boon" pattern that is not quite proportioned correctly (arms and legs too short or too long)...but I don't know that for 100%...just passing along the information.

i've heard that too actually, i heard that the arms were slightly too long or something to the effect, never concerned me because i have a huge armspan as it is, but i'll let u know for sure when i get everything done if i don't end up using a pattern another member is sending me. maybe i'll get both done if all goes well. either way i'll leave some feedback since everything thus far has been heresay on this pattern. :)

It isnt a DIY suit if you have to send it of for dye sub. You are still going to have to send it off and find a company that will print it. That in turn runs at least 300. Then someone is going to have to sew it. Nothing against the pattern at all I have not seen it like that but if you are already going to have to spend that much money you might as well just buy one... Of course unless you sew or have access to a dye sub machine.

don't the already made suits run about 600-700 bucks though? i say if you want something more screen accurate and you're going to go to a bunch of events and whatnot then that's fine to spend that much...if you have it. but i think paying half just to wear it for halloween or something is fine too. seems like these spidey costumes on here seem to be about personal practicality more than anything. apparently according to some members fabricondemand.com only charges $35 a yard to print which comes out being around $100 bucks or more if that helps anyone, and if that's fact. i'm not knocking any die hard replica junkies or anything by the way :)

Yeah, I've never personally made or purchased a Spider-Man suit (besides a cheap one for Halloween a few years ago haha) but I've been looking into it, and $25 for the pattern and $100 to get it printed is quite cheap, I would assume it wouldn't be much more than $100 to have it sewn, if even that.

Call me wrong... I had never seen that page before. And if they will print it I would go for it. Heck I may be trying to do somthing there you will only need 2yds I think, on a white fabric.

Lol seeing this makes me want to ask, is there a file similar to this with just the muscle layout?

What I've always wondered: Peter parker was broke as ...you know...well. And how does he get a high tech costume like made in the movies? How can he even afford that? That's what I wondered.

Don't get me wrong, I like the suits, but...it's peter parker. The broke dude...

In my opinion. DIY is really the only to go for a Spider-Man if done right.

Spider-Man the only of a few character where the only inaccurately you can not get is the fact that you're not Spider-Man.

Most people like to do 1 or 2 to piece suit which is inaccurately. I recommend 7 pieces suit ever for even movie style suit. But not for the black suits.

I a few months I will to tutorials series on YouTube on making a spidey suit the way Peter Dose or most likely dose.

sonjou and i worked on one... i dont know how to add the link but...
