Spider-Man Symbiote Suit Build

Thx Silvertron

More done on the torso (top of the legs) but just for my sanity started some of the other smaller pieces to feel like I'm actually getting somewhere. -.-

So... thumbs!

You're doing a great job with this build, man! Keep going!

This is looking absolutely incredible, mate. Your puff paint work is pristine, to say the least.

On an anecdotal note, when I was making a suit for the premiere of ASM2 just a few weeks ago, I had a local seamstress with a good 20 odd years of experience in sewing gymnastics suits, wedding dresses, and the like, sew the suit together sans instructions (as my print didn't have an accompanying legend). Needless to say, the end result was heartbreaking, but a lesson to be learned. Even should the mask turn out well, make sure she knows what you want. The seamstress I had sew mine had all of the confidence and none of the know-how (or really the understanding of the gravity of its importance to me), but I assumed she could get things done. I was wrong and should have been more involved, clarified its value in needing to be accurately constructed. Be there every step of the way so she knows what you want. You might come off like a pest, but you'll probably get what you want. Gotta give that work of art its just due! Haha

Definitely excited to see where it goes no matter what, though, man! I hope the seamstress will work out for you :)

Thanks guys! And dang MrMondu, that sucks man :(

The plan with the seamstress is she's going to hand stitch everything first and actually tailor it with me in it opposed to just giving her all the pieces and just say 'Ok, go!'. I know the lycra is pretty damn stretchy but it can't hurt, everyone is shaped differently. What I do need to look into is zipper placement. I have no idea where they should go. Is one down the back enough? Must investigate what other ppl have done and found works.

In the meantime, more puff...

So had to delay things with the seamstress and I got super anxious just to see what the mask looks like. So I used my hack hand sewing abilities to piece it together and put it on. I was actually incredibly impressed with how much stretch the puff paint can handle. Has some obvious wrinkles but like I said, I'm no seamstress. That aside I think it looks purdy sweet!

Looking great, black puffy really makes this look more alien in my opinion. Keep it up :thumbsup

Soooo I just got my test mask back from the seamstress. Was actually blown away with the job she did. Fits like a glove and all the web lines line up pretty much perfectly! Suffice to say I'm even more pumped to finish this thing than I was before.

The monstrous main body section is almost done. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Wowzers that is looking great. Love how the puffy paint picks up the light! Best of luck in the final stretch. Steady as she goes!

Thanks bud :)

So these honeycombs on the feet are even smaller than the ones on the head which I'm just realizing now. Haha oh god kill me

Were the honeycombs printed on to begin with, and you traced, or was this all completely free hand with no base?

About 50/50. On the original file I sent Fabricondemand you can see all the honeycombs but as I found out the hard way there wasn't enough contrast in a lot of areas and the honeycombs disappeared into a sea of blackness.

One foot done. Taking a break from those tiny ass honeycombs and doing the back pieces. After painting purely black paint on black fabric for hours, days and weeks at a time getting to the few white parts is oddly refreshing. Only a couple pieces left!
