Spider-Man Symbiote Suit Build

Waiting patiently for the suit to come is reallllly hard.

So in the meantime, the face shell that I grabbed from TJack was one of the prototypes (there's a looong wait list I don't have time for right now) of his newly designed one so the recesses for the eyes aren't quite the right size for the lenses. The recess isn't quite small enough for the lenses to sit ontop but also isn't big enough for the lenses to sit in them. I'm playing around with some bondo right now to fill in a bit of the edges to make a flat surface for the lenses to sit on. As for now, got myself a dremel and made some holes. Being able to breathe is always nice

Spent most of the evening finishing up the mask.

Here's my hackjob with some bondo to try and fill in the corners of the recess. Cracked a little after drying but was fine, going over it again anyway.

Cut out the eyes, drilled some holes for the magnets.

Shaped the frames to the mask. Was pretty nervous about snapping them with too much pressure but all is well!

Went over the bondo again with more bondo.

Sanded it down and painted it black. Glued the magnets to the frames and inside the shell.

Not the prettiest thing ever but it works!

So I got the confirmation email that my pattern has been printed and shipped a few days ago. I go online to track and see where it's at and of course this pops up on their site...

So now will you put pad on insode of shell for comfort. And are those enclosed lenses... I have asm1 and I have to use toothpaste to keep them from fogging.

Well it finally arrived! Tiny problem with some of the honeycomb pattern kind of disappearing in the darker areas but they're still just barely visible at certain angles so everything should be fine, it's just killer on my eyes trying to focus on them. Overall I think it turned out great.

The problem with black puff paint on a dark suit is it's hard to get pics of. The puff paint has a great look when moving around and the light hits it from different angles.

So as the overall cost of this thing is quickly rising I'm having to go another route from using Trophywife to put it all together. Meeting with a local seamstress today to go over this whole thing with her and see if it's something she can handle. Still painting...

2 Cents......If ya don't mind. A project like this isn't something you want to skimp on. I know the cost of things can be a ##*&^^$& sometimes but from what I am seeing it looks like you want it done right, and I know for a fact that Trophywife does AWESOME work. I have seen the hack job that local seemstresses can do. PLEASE make sure they are current on full body lycra suits, it's a lot harder than they think. Sometimes its worth waiting a bit longer to get the cash then see your hard work screwed up.. Best of luck man, truly can't wait to see the finished product.

Totally agree. I have a friend who ballroom dances. She was the one who recommended the seamstress I met with. She works with a lot of fragile and stretchy materials so seems like she knows how to handle the lycra. I gave her the pieces for the extra mask that came with the print so she'll put that together as her 'test' hehe. If it all looks good then I'll stick with her for the whole suit, and getting it fitted before being put together can't be a bad thing

Sea of black and white continues. About to finish the spider. Saw TASM2 last night. I gotta say, it was a lot better than I was expecting. Gave a nice little motivation boost to keep goin

While honeycombing for hours on end my mind wanders sometimes. Came to thinking about what would happen is there was an accident and the suit got a huge mustard stain, or just got dirty from... something, anything. Started to wonder if people have thought to cover their suits with a protective spray or something like this? Cuz you never know
