Together with Star Blazers, hands down my favourite anime series.

Trailer is here

Captain Harlock 2012 Movie TRAILER « NeoShinka

Like Spielberg's Tintin, it's CG, but at least, and unlike the recent Star Blazers movie, its in English :).

The renderings look fantastic, and seem to be spot on to the series :thumbsup

Very much looking forward to this one :cool

Looks promising, looking forward to it. This trailer has more action than every episode of every incarnation of the anime combined. ;) I hope there is a bit of story...

...but they can skip the long, drawn-out mopeyness in which Matsumoto bastes all his work. A little melancholy here and there adds depth, but he really pours it on.

Don't like the voice.

I'm just glad it's back to "Harlock", and not this "Warlock" nonsense.

He sure does :lol, but it's just his style :)

Keyword there is melancholy.

.... which I have plenty of

...... for the Cosmo Dragoon, Gravity Saber etc :thumbsup

Looks good,Harlock has always been a favorite of mine and I've always liked the stories, yes it is depressing but it fits together quite well.

At least he doesn't have the cheesy John Wayne voice used in Galaxy Express 999.
Indeed!

You mean "Captain Herlock"? That's a new English translation direct from the character's CREATOR, Leiji Matsumoto. :unsure
That, too. (He was renamed "Warlock" in that shortened/bastardized English version of the first 999 movie-- the one where Tetsuro was called Joey Hanakanabobakananda-Smith. :lol)

But the Herlock thing is by Matsumoto himself? Why?

Anyway, any adaptation has one thing going for it: no one can knock it for changing, well, just about anything. None of the source material agrees with itself!

Huh. Never knew that. But then, I really only know the character from the American comics that Malibu did about 20 years ago or so... never even really saw the anime versions. :unsure

He claimed the name has been mis-translated for decades. Thus, the most recent version of the anime that was released in the US was released under the title Captain Herlock.

:lol

Treadwell, this is the RPF.... someone will FIND a way to complain! :lol
