Ok, so I really, really want to make a cool looking Rocket Raccoon costume for my Son. I have zero skills myself when it comes to creating / sewing anything, but my Wife wants to give it a try. So I figured why not put it out there for the whole world to see...?
We are hoping to have this ready for Wondercon which is mid-April. Eek.
This is the look we are going for, to some extent. Not concerned about being 100% movie accurate, but we like the look of this over the old red and blue suit.
We have bought some yellow and blueish fabric and some buttons/straps to give it a start.
The real trick is going to be the head. Our Son is almost 8 years old, so the idea of him wearing a full head covering mask is very unrealistic. It will be too uncomfortable/hot/itchy/etc. So we are thinking of doing some sort of partial mask / hood / ears and then using facepaint on his face. It needs to look really cool, but also be comfortable enough that he can walk around a comic convention for a few hours.
The one thing that IS done to this point, as of today, is the gun. Again not at all movie accurate, but a gun that I thought would look good with the costume. It's a painted Nerf Firefly gun, which looks like this to start:
Here is our gun, with my paint job completed:

That is all for now, I will update as things move along. Since we have very little idea what we are doing, we are completely and utterly open to any and all suggestions.
Thanks for looking!
