Some Recent work on MAN OF STEEL Movie accurate suit . Suit Display Done !!

Re: Some Recent work on MAN OF STEEL Movie accurate suit .

Designed a muscle template from image embossed image scans of the movie suit from movie book and online sources last week. Took me several weeks to get just right.Just setting them up to get 3D templates made by next week. The muscles in the inner body suit is actually what is called 'Dragon Skin' that is adhered to a body stocking which is like the under armour cooling gear with a elastin and nylon in it. The chainmail fabric, which again is not actually meshed. It has been referred to as mesh like fabric, but as the costume/fashion designer Michael Wilkinson and concept designer James Acheson has mentioned, was referred to as four-way stretch lycra. The outer fabric is then heat pressed to the under suit. Just a tip. lol!

Sounds like your muscle suit could complement the outer suit Masked Rider is making (which is a 4-way stretch lycra). Will you be showing pics?

Re: Some Recent work on MAN OF STEEL Movie accurate suit .

Here are pics again of the Chain mail closed up , surface of the chain mail material and the inner surface of the chain mail surface , due to the thin layer of glissnette mesh material , so the silicon material almost go through the fabric , that makes the inner surface " grab " or " catch " with the surface of the shinny material . So , i strongly believed that the texture chain mail on the Movie suit , was printed with some kind of Foam latex material or any puff paint mixed with latex or etc ...... , as its lighter ... but its not durable as we can see in some pics of the suit display , some of the texture seems broken or damaged .

We can also take the Bat suit as example . Batman armor suit that made by FOAM LATEX similar to the movie suit , its more lighter and more comfortable for the actor to wear , but it will be easily damage and need to take good care of . As for the Bat suit that cast in Urethane material , it will last longer and wont need any special like Foam latex suit and more durable . But yet its more heavy , hard and less movement compared to wearing the foam latex suit . Hope this make sense and pls correct me if im wrong ...

Inner surface of the printed material .

Some update about how i attached the cape onto the shoulder .

Made a temporary should belt with Velcro and also glue it temporary on the inner side of the cape .

So both side attached on the shoulder place by Velcro , to push the cape into the small space of the shoulder armor parts . Im planning to make a small clips which similar as the belt clips or tie clips to it can clips or stuck and " stay " inside the space .

Yes...u are correct with the material... it's not in one piece fabric actually.. it's sewn together so we get this big piece...

Hey Leslee, Saw the video, the material is SUPER, doesn't loose shape when stretched.

As for the cape, its coming quit good, but I do have a couple of points: It looks like the cape in the original costume is tucked on both ends, and the material clearly looks dark red Velvet.

What do you think?

The material just sits on top and as affixed with straps/Velcro and magnets...pretty close to how he has it.

The material is a two sided micro suede from those who have seen it in person.

If you have the metal emblem blu ray tin there's a extra disc that follows alongside the film and shows and talks you thought how they made the film it talks and shows how the cape was done.

Re: Some Recent work on MAN OF STEEL Movie accurate suit .

Tip ; the movie cape is actually medium to dark crimson red, and you are right on the microfiber suede lol!

I think the crimson color we sometimes see in the movie is due to post-processing after the movie was filmed.

I don't have the disc kapow7 is referring to, but in this clip (at around 35-36 seconds in)
Man Of Steel Behind The Scenes - Stunts (2013) - Superman Movie HD - YouTube

You can see someone taking the cape off, and shortly after you'll see some green-screen stuff which shows the actual post-processed footage in the bottom right corner... You can see how the post-processing changes the cape color to make it appear more of a darker red. Put it at 720p and full screen it for a better look

So AJ, are you going to be sharing some pics of your work on that undersuit?

Re: Some Recent work on MAN OF STEEL Movie accurate suit .

I've seen the screen-used suit in-person, masked rider's pretty good on the color. The cape is post-processed to look darker in the film.

Re: Some Recent work on MAN OF STEEL Movie accurate suit .

Im gonna have to agree on the microfiber suede and cor. Yes there's the difference between reality and Digital Grading. So, Im gonna have to agree on the microfiber suede and colour.
But what about the cape in terms of attachment?
