Solo: A Star Wars Story

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Even a bit of young Robin Williams

That's Jaime Costa. If you haven't seen his Robin Williams impression look it up on youtube. He's spot on.

I like Jaime Costa, but I couldn't watch that Han Solo vid and not see Robin Williams as Han Solo.

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Thanks, @Bryancd. Iger's quote is interesting, that there might be more than one Han & Chewie spinoff film.

Of course, if it crushes it at the box office, and people like the young Han, then naturally they will do a follow-up adventure for the duo.

In a way, this is the Star Wars film I most look forward to, given my love for its two main characters. But in another way, it's the Star Wars film I'm most skeptical about, because if it's mishandled, it could be a disaster. So much is going to ride on who they cast as Han. (And as always, the writing and directing.)

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Why did it have to be an origin story?

I'm fine with an adventure with Chewie and Han in the midst of their smuggling days but I have ZERO interest in seeing how the met, or how they won the Falcon from Lando in a game of cards. Fans have already built those things in their heads for so long now that whatever they commit to film will surely disappoint.

Besides, I thought the anthology films were supposed to focus on characters not related to the main group of heroes. I mean Vader being in Rogue One makes sense as he would be the villain, but he won't be carrying the entire film.

What makes Han Solo work is that he balances out the characters by being the smart ass of the ensemble. If it's just going to be him running around with Chewbacca spewing cheesy one liners without anyone else interesting to play off of then it is going to suck big time.

everything these days has to be connected and explained. in order to avoid continuity errors, or embarrassing stories.

hollywood is spending too much time over thinking things, rather than coming up with stories that would just be fun stand alone adventures.

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Lawrence Kasdan says it is NOT an origin story. Just because it has him meeting Chewie does not make it an origin story.

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Justin Kroll at Variety confirmed these three and also said these two were also on the list, Glee’s Blake Jenner and Unbroken’s Jack O’Connell.

Incredibly disappointing, if true. None of these guys look remotely like Harrison Ford and even looking at it purely from a thespianic angle, they don't exactly inspire confidence either. As far as I'm concerned, not going with Ingruber is an epic fail. He at least looked like Harrison Ford, even if he turned out to not be a marvelous actor. I think he could've gotten the job done and it'd been nice press to hire another aspiring, nearly completely unknown actor that just happens to have an eerie resemblance to Harrison Ford. I guess we're to assume Han had some radical plastic surgery in the 5-10 years before ANH.

I dunno, if I HAD to choose between those three, even though I have no idea who any of them are....

maybe Alden Ehrenreich?

he kind of maybe looks like harrison, if you squint the wrong way.

but then again, I didn't think Kylo looked anything like han or lea either. especially with that big honking muppet nose.

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Not every kid always looks like their bio parents. He does have Leia's brown eyes.

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Well, that's a bummer that Ingruber isn't on the list (apparently).

I'm not really that enthused about anyone else, although I liked the guy who played Eggsy in Kingsman: The Secret Service just as a general matter. The rest....meh.

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

In regards to how Disney has handled Star Wars so far and I heir track record with Marvel and animation studios, they have more then earned the benefit of the doubt.

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Seems to me they handled them by being hands off. Marvel's done what they were doing pre-purchase and LFL, well, if not for the sale there'd be no more SW, so i agree with their edict of more SW, but i still think they're leaving it for the most part in LFL's hands.
