If you get all the parts raw (unpainted), you could be looking at around $1000, but be prepared to figure out how to paint latex so that the paint doesn't crack when its flexed. If you want it all painted for you, then you are looking at $2500-$3000. Again these are average prices. All the costs vary from person to person.

Painting latex is tricky - search for more info if you plan on doing it yourself. If you want things painted for you, the costs vary depending on who you get to do it.

We are a very helpful community, but please understand - it is next to impossible to make a Predator suit in time for Halloween when it is only a month away- unless you plan on buying a Rubies cheap-o version, or trying your hand at making your own suit from scratch using paper mache, foamies and a Mr Incredible suit.

I am new to the Lair and it is AWESOME!!! everyone is helpful, all newbies please read what the members have to say they give great advice and If your seriouse about anything and everything Predator you can find tons of info and someone always willing to help. I have been trying to put a suit together for the past 2 years, and have been having a really hard time finding the right channels to get what I need, I found the lair just over a month ago and have been able to get just about everything I needed so far! So next year I can finally wear my suit!
 
I found this site a while back, but I wasn't able to register due to the lack of a private email. Anyway, I'm in now, and I'd say that it was worth the wait! I don't intend on building a movie suit in 2 weeks, nor expecting to pay $250 for one, but I will try to build a reasonable suit within a reasonable time frame on a reasonable budget. :(

This forum had sure been very useful for me in my research on Predator armor and suits. I knew the Predator since the VHS age, and it was certainly a pain to play and pause the tape to peer at the details... not that the screen resolution was any help, either. As it was, as a teenage kid, I spent hours staring at the TV screen, trying to get all the details in. And as a kid, I was not able to replicate all the details - due to lack of skills and lack of materials. Things became easier in the late 90's when I had access to the internet. But still, there was not much on Predators back then. This forum is certainly a "one-stop center" for Predator reference, and I am glad I came across it. I hope to get a suit done for myself before July of next year, and maybe a Machiko-type suit for my girlfriend before April '10.

I am a newbie to the site,but a longtime Predator fan.I will admit that when I see the cost of some of this stuff I cring.However, when you guys post the tutorials and show how it is all done and how much work goes into these costumes,it makes allot of sense.So far I have done one bio helmet paint up and since joining am looking at doing more.Hopefully soon do my first P2 head paint-up.Oneday I will have the time and money to buildup a P2 suit,till then I will admire fellow members talents.

I enjoy this site alot and am glad i found it eventually. Still on the drawing board with my pred somehow this is like my fifth effort and just cant find what i want 100%...hence the lack of posts or thread to show what ive done or will be doing

just wanted to bump this because of all the new guys. to many of the same questions. One guy wanted a suit for $300.00!! .
 
LOL!!! Ima noob but im not interested in being a pred just yet, I just thought it'd be fun to join this place so I could have like minded people to talk to and make friends. I might look into getting a fem pred suit one day but considering the cost (which I knew had to be in the thousands, though my first guess was $5,000 or more)
I just cant do that right now though it'd be fun to go with ya'll in swarm to a con ^.^.
If only I could win the lottery LOL!!!!!!!!!
as it is the cheapest costume I could think of was lara croft though the backpack I want is $220 :D.
OH!!!!! here is a noob question are there any good cons in Ga that arnt dragoncon?
and another noob question where can I get a pet predator on the cheap? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

pick any suit from the suit thread and that member must lend it to a newbie at only the shipping cost?...

let's see,... it started with member number 5, i think it's up to member 8 or 9...

seeing as how we now have over 5 thousand members...your turn should come around 2020 :D

Hey, and I know what you mean money now in days is hard to come by and it sucks to watch it go. And recently I landed a new position at my workplace and I am so happy to begin construction and have all the patience in the world to watch this thing get done.
 
Can we put a cross-reference to this topic in the Huntorials and Help section? That's just in case someone lands there and asks, "Help me make a Predator costume for $100" without having read the General Predator Discussion section.
 
As a noob, I'm only here for a little over a month. I've made a few mistakes posting, and was pretty intimidated when I posted anything or even sent pm's, and still am-to an extent. But everyone here is very helpful and will assist in guiding you in the right direction. I believe they just want us noobs to understand that this is a passion and they create works of art, and this can't be rushed. I'm still working on my concept as well and am just speaking with different builders to get a feel for the cost. One of the best advice I read is to "grab a cold one or two and spend one or two hours searching the threads." It's great advice. I've searched and found huntorials from last year and older, as well as new ones.

But to share what I like to do here, is that I enjoy looking at the huntorials that show them building a suit from start to finish. To me it's great inspiration and makes me more humble. Bovine13 has three great suite builds.

But, thanks to everyone for being helpful, patient with me, and for pointing me in the right direction.
 
I'm a noob and don't expect no hand outs from anyone I joined this site for the simple reason I thought it was cool for a bunch of pred fans to get together and help one another I've been reasearching for almost 2 years but off and on and just decided to go through with getting my own suit so by all means u can send help info but don't take it as I'm just on here to get by I'm here as a fan who would like to get to know other fans that's all so thanks to all for the acceptance and tips
