I wish it took place in and around the Smurf village and incorporated the other characters. I thought Neil Patrick Harris was going to be Johan.

Actually the Smurfs were pretty cute and Gargamel and Azrael were funny. All six of us in the theater thought so! Not a fail to the fans and the New York thing wsasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Before this movie, I never knew how mad I could be at the bastardization of a cartoon series that I have apsolutly no emotional connection to.

I havent seen it yet, but it looks to have the same flavor as the Chipmunks movies...

In all honesty the movie itself was not that horrible. Typical kids film fluff.

However it more had to do with the fact that alot of the things I have been frustrated with Hollywood about were abundant in this movie, so watching it left me more pissed off than a bad movie typically should.

...but how is Hank Azaria's Gargamel? So, even NPH couldn't pull this one out of the toilet? at least we'll have "Harold and Kumar Save Christmas"

Apparantly they get chsed into a forbidden cave, yadda yadda yadda, and end up in modern New York.

Sigh. Azaria looks great as Gargamel. And NPH is always funny. Doesn't mean I'm gonna see it, though.

And why is the Scottish smurf (how do you even get different accents in a single smurf village?!?) wearing little smurf pants AND a kilt? That's both redundant and superfluous.

The censors probably made them give him pants or they'd mess with the rating it would get. I'd rather have it all been CGI.
