Smoothcast Vs. Resin and Fiberglass

Hi, I find this italian product http://www.prochima.it/catalogo/prochima 28.pdf is a poliuretanic resin bicompo manufacturer say is no-toxic. If you mix whit another product you can make a no-toxic bondo. This resin have less odor and I have a sample is pretty strong like abs.
I don't think is toxic free but my really question if is good enough to harder our paper project...

I found english version

So any suggestions on Evercoat Rage Gold Extremem #120 vs high performance Gold Premium #105 Premium? I am going to order some to try out

For people living in Belgium and who don't want to pay shipping cost, I found some resellers for Evercoat products. Just send a mail to info@inplasco.be and ask for a reseller near your place by giving your postcode.

Already asked for Brussels, Charleroi and Mons:

PAINT SERVICE SA
Rue Godecharle 21 – 23
1050 Brussel (Ixelles)
Tel 02 640 21 50
(just got 2 cans of 1.5 liters of Rage Gold Evercoat from there for 25.5€ each)

COVALUX MONS SA
Chaussée De Ghlin 121
7000 Mons
Tel 065 31 61 81

COVALUX CHARLEROI SA
Chaussée de Bruxelles 104
6042 Lodelinsart
Tel 071 33 28 57

Hope this can help my fellow friends from Belgium :)

Wow. Thanks so much for all the great info!! I have a costume I'm researching, as well as an old Mustang I'm restoring. Win win!!

I get all my evercoat stuff from amazon.

I just ordered the Evercoat Gold Premium last night from Amazon. Free shipping and best price I found. I cant wait to try it out.
If I run out of the hardner that comes with it, can I just use some of my leftover Bondo brand?

I buy all of my evercoat products from the local automotive paint dealer, their prices are always inline with amazon, so its easier to just stop by and pick it up instead of waiting for shipping. I just bought a gallon of rage gold, I believe it was 53 bucks with tax....

If you have any paint dealers local, that's your best bet to buy from.....

Don't mix Bondo hardener with the Evercoat... I don't know that it will have a negative effect, but they are two different products. You will most likely have curing issues. Better safe than sorry

I did not see links on amazon fit additional tubes of hardner but maybe I missed it?

Hi,

Im completely new to this. Just after abit of help, any would be great.

Im from the UK and made part of an Iron Man costume ( I say part because I only had a week for a party). I made this out of foam after being introduced to pepakura and the very talented man Stealth. It looked very interesting and I thought id give it go.

I came first with my costume, it wasnt complete but did the job. For my first ever attempt I was impressed and so were every one else.

Anyway im now very interested in doing it properly and have a few questions.

1. Where in the UK can I get Polyurethane resin from and is it any good?

2. Can you resin over foam?

Basically im new to all of this and need help.

Any help would be much appreciated

Many thanks.

WOW! Acrylic resin and wood putty....and his example actually looks pretty damn good! Have you had a chance to try this yet Bob? I am wondering how hard it is to get clean cuts and folds in detailed areas with the laminated paper.

Do you have any suggestions on where to find acrylic resin here in the States? Is it readily available at somewhere like Lowes or Menards?

A craft supplier here in Sweden has Plasticrete tagged as acrylic resin.
I'm pretty certain I've seen plasticrete mentioned several times around here by Americans, so it could be worth checking out :)
