Slave One model

I personally would love to see MR release a replica of the original 3 footer SD, however the Falcon is so large where will folks who don't live in mansions be able to put one?

I know I am not the one that should be stating this,... but... for a SS 3 foot SD?.... I imagine MOST everybody would make the room. It is notably the vehicle that opened the eyes of the world to Star Wars. The first shot of it slowly creeping over the screen is probably one of the most, (if not the most), famous opening scenes in movie history. In my humble opinion.. the SD has been overlooked for too long in the collector world. Even in the modeling world we see far to few completed. I know my opinion doesn't count with MR's decision, but I believe if you asked both the collectible markets and those in the modelers world if they wanted a beautiful collectible of the 3 foot SD,.. you would recieve an amazing answer. :eek

I am sorry if I am coming off strong, but this specific piece means much more to many (obviously including myself) than I think I can personaly convey. Heck,.. I just saw a chip commercial with Michael Duncan Clark imitating that above stated scene with the CHIP. :love

Our options for that vessel have been limited to either a very bad MPC kit that requires extreme makeovers to make decent,.. or a Hasbro toy that basically looks to be from the same molds (though I never confirmed that).

I don't know what else to say about that with the exception that NOT having an SD done WOULD be a travesty to all that have ever had larger dreams of adventure do to Star Wars. That film changed the movie industry in almost every way and it was started with that ship crawling overhead on the screen in front of us. I still remember having to close my mouth after it went over. :p

A little heavy I agree,.. but that is my humble opinion. :$

Please don't get me wrong Barry. I soooooo dig that you come on these boards to give us info and updates. You are truly AWESOME and I appreciate you more than you know. :thumbsup :) :thumbsup

On that note,... I am requesting that MR consider doing the 3 foot Studio Scale ANH Star Destroyer,... not only for myself,.. but for the ENTIRE WORLD of collectors, modelers, Sci Fi fans and movie enthusiasts alike. :D

Making room for a 3 foot SD? No problem, I would put it on the same shelf with the PL refit Enterprise, and the MR TOS Enterprise. :)

A 3 foot model is not that big. As Kuhn said, if you really want one you would make room.
Since I wasn't asked, Put me in "yes, I would want one" camp.

Let get to the Slave One first... :)
[/b]

Slave 1 1st, Slave 1 1st, Slave 1 1st...... :D
I've got a life sized Boba Fett that is just dying to be displayed with a SS Slave 1... ;)

oops.... sorry about that rmschneider. :$ I got carried away as your thread kept morphing into what everyone wants MR to create. Please accept my apology for carrying off topic. :p

SLAVE ONE...

There is much that deserves to exist in the Studio Scale Collection World... SLAVE ONE is one of them in my book. Ketzer's S1 would be a great piece if MR chooses not to take it on. How many out there have SS Slave One's on their benches, started, or waiting to be finished and placed in a closet gathering dust due to build interest loss? :confused I would love to see pics if so. It may be time to start finishing these beasties.

My personal choices for next year would have been the Star Destroyer AND Slave One. However we shall see what MR come up with for the 30th Anniversary year. I'm sure they'll be spectacular.

Don't forget MR also have the Battlestar Galactica licence too. Studio Scales from that will also have to fit into the release schedule somewhere, along with Trek... So much to do, so little time to do it in.

Question placed in the Atemylunch's new thread for this stuff... looks like we had the same question..lol ;)

The ANH SD is three feet wide, it's much bigger than you think.
[/b]

On the contrary... I do know how large 3 feet wide is..lol.

So Barry was speaking width then? I assumed length. Was I wrong Barry? I know someone already has plans for the 3 foot wide ANH SD,.. but there is NO WAY that MR could put that out.

3 feet in length...yes.

If it's too big at studio scale they could always take the same approach that they did with the snowspeeder and make it 75% - I'd be all over it. :)

Me too. Studio scale is awesome and in General I say its the way to go for these high end replicas, but I just can't carve out a seris of 8 foot sections of my home to dedicate to a SS SD... 2.5 to 3 feet is really about the limit I can justify and still remain married...

I did not know that MR had acquired the liscense to do BSG stuff. Thats awesome. I'm looking forward to what you guys pout out along that line as well.

back on topic - a Slave 1 would be very cool, but I have to admit its not my favorite ships. If it was priced well I'd go for it though ;) if for no other reason so I could have it chasing my falcon :love

Apparently time to resurrect this thread according to rumours from Toyfair about
a SS Slave-1 from MR.

Yes a Slave I would be awesome... But the paintjob will be the most complexe of all SW ships, It will be way more challenging than the Falcon to duplicate IMO.

Barry, No matter how many previous attempts made at the X wing..........it is still a very iconic ship to the SW saga. Same for the TIE fighters. I know i'm in for one. I know kits are out there for the Xwing, but a professionally finished Xwing would sell like hotcakes in my opinion. I know several folks that are standing in line for a finished product.........because they aren't modellers nor painters.

Slave-1 is a definite big seller.........Star Destroyer and Sandcrawler too... There have been many folks here wanting a SS Sandcrawler. Same for the landspeeder. C3 caused that fever....

Dave :)

I appreciate everyone's confidence in me but I have no immediate plans to make a Slave I. I do think it's one of the coolest designs ever created though.

Right now I'm completely consumed with Kurt's commisions, if kits for general sale come about through the things I'm doing for him I'll be sure to release them though, which he has no issue with.
[/b]
Well stated Richard.

I don't mean to sound cheesy,.. but...

It actually pleases me to no end that you would even think about making kits out of those commissions. I believe your talent speaks for itself and if ya got it,...DO IT. You're making dreams and fantasies come true dude. That is what you're doing. You can always be proud of that. You're the REAL DEAL.. This is exactly why I have so much for you to create toward my own collection. Offering some of that which has been created to others?...EXTREMELY KEWL...

Bottom line is that you have the gift.... and if your able to share that gift...more power to ya. Some of us, like myself, just don't have it,.. so that comment goes to anyone doing this kind of stuff. Keep em comin'.

That's all I have to say about that. Except,....... those are nice shoes... LOL. My momma got me a pair of shoes once... lol. Ahhh GUMPisms...gotta love em.
[/b][/quote]

I think modelers that might take on making a SS Slave one Kit underestimate the popularity. MR could never do the paint job the justice that folks on this and other forums could. I would think 25 kits would go in a heartbeat for something like this spread accrost a few forums. God knows I would buy one. I can allready think of about 10 folks that would be right behind me in buying one as well. Who dosnt wat the ship that tracked the Melinium Falcon and took Han to Jaba. :thumbsup
