Skeleton Key - Skyrim

I've been meaning to put together a build post for this for a while now but kept getting distracted.

I never gave back the Skeleton Key and never finished the Thieves Guild. I feel no remorse.

Nick modeled up the key a couple years ago but recently added more details to the knob.

Here's a screenshot of the 3d model in Autodesk Inventor.

3D printed with a Lulzbot Mini.

I didn't take any pictures of the key with bondo filler on it but here's a picture of it with a mix of bondo and primer, wet sanded!

Final coat of primer in the spray booth!

Here's a few pictures of it after base coating.

I love shapeways, so I had them print me a key. The level of detail is amazing.

I completely forgot about the unusal gem/chest, I got too excited about the FO4 terminal. I need to get that guy painted up!

Thanks! I do, it works well as long as you keep the filter clear/clean. I made a panel to hook it up to the exhaust above my stove! I also made a cart/enclosure for it using some random parts I had laying around and a target metal shelving unit with wheels.I think it was around $80 on amazon.

This is a close up with the metallic coats applied.

Metallics + weathering. Aaron does the detail painting and weathering, he's a wizard of sorts. If you have any questions I'll forward them to him and post his responses!

He's messing with a few different ways to get the "glow" effect that the skeleton key has on it. Personally, I really like the way this turned out.

And drum roll.....here's the first finished Skeleton Key of several!

We're currently working on a few more of these. I just finished sanding a few of them up to drop off with Aaron for painting!
