The dome is a separate piece on the finished bust and on the sculpt here. See the line running along the bottom edge of the dome? That's where the two pieces separate.


The skull you see is sculpted in to the main head, the dome is vacuumformed and glued on just like the original.

What I meant about the original sculpt being solid dome is that I saw coolprops original sculpt:

Doesn't this look like one piece? I thought maybe the tried some 3D paint application to make it look like there's artificial depth here.

No , you can see the dome seam all the way around it especially in the back. Coolprops has confirmed its a clear dome made of PET. That original sculpt also has an open mouth. I wish they had gone that route.

I'm not certain If I'm merely trying to read between the lines here, but the original sculpt of this, iirc, is a solid dome with no skull features.

The original did in fact have a skull underneath the clear dome, though it never really did look so crystal-clear in the film.

The head did have a skull under a dome as people have stated... and I believe that D48thRonin is correct that it was not as crystal clear as seen in the prop piece in the discussion. It was more of a milky color where you could see the skull when close, but with different lighting, it made the dome look more opaque. That is why in the film it kind of looked solid under the lighting. You can see with our previous head at Hollywood Collectibles Group, we tried to keep that milky/opaque factor where you can see the hint of the structure and skull inside, but it wasn't too clear.

I think its a hard one to nail. In close up shots in the movie the dome looks opaque but in some farther shots when hes hidden in the escape ship you can see the skull coming through when the light flashes. Lookng at those pics D48th posted the dome is pretty clear. They must have toned it down. I personally would rather have it a bit more clear then so opaque you don't see much like the dog head they did. At least if its clear we can frost it or tone it down. As a display piece and for the wow factor I'm hoping for a more clear dome.
