Sideshow / Hot Toys Alien Problems

I purchased one of the 18", Hot Toys Alien Warrior figures from Sideshow. Unfortunately, the box arrived at a very busy time and it was a while before I got around to opening it. So, now I've got it open and there are a number of big problems. Neither foot stays on the figure, they both just drop off. The back spines won't fit correctly in their slots. It's now too late to return it to Sideshow. Oh, and my wife got carried away and destroyed the box. Thanks, honey! :angry

Has anyone else come across this? The spines aren't a problem, I can glue them in, but the feet are tough. Any tips on how to fix the ankles? The sockets are just too big. I could glue them as well, but there goes the posability.

Thanks,

HH

Sorry about your situation. Speaking as a recently divorced man, May I suggest the following. Tell your wife it is all her fault and ask her to get you a new one. :) :)

You will quickly find out if she really loves you.

:lol:lol

Actually, I think she would buy me a new one, but I don't want her to spend the money. I spend enough on this stuff!

You could try increasing the size of the ball on the ankles. You could try wrapping a piece a of tape around the ball. It'll at least give you an idea of how much bigger you need to go. For a more permanent solution, you can add layers of glue to increase the size or a layer of sculpy.

I've got this figure, is the foot falling off the ball joint? Mine isn't too solid, but I haven't had any problems as of yet.

If the foot is falling off the ball joint, you can try this.

Get some of that super thin super glue and give the ball a coat of that. Let it dry and re-attach the foot. If it falls off, add another layer. Keep doing this till the foot stays put.

I've tried this on smaller figures with the same problem and this worked for me. I can't see that a bigger figure would be different.

Wow, what a simple idea! I should have thought of that myself :confused. I'll give it a try . . .

Thanks!

Let me know if it works. :)

I may have to do it to my own Alien one of these days.:confused

I had to glue on one of the hands I couldn't get to stay on one of my 12" figures (broken peg). You can't see it, even up close, but he's stuck with that pose forever I guess. Helps that I'm not one to re-sell my stuff.

Yeah, that's a drag and what I'm trying to avoid. The posability is one of the things that makes it cool.
