howdy folks,

This thing is huge. Seems like twice the size of the Horizon vinyl kit.

You have ten seconds to comply. :angry

:D

This scene ranks waaay up there for me as being one of the all time greatest ultimatum scenes.

I missed the initial order at sideshow and put myself on the wait-list. (6-7 monthes ago?). I received an email a few months later saying that someone backed out and that i could order one. Many times in my head i made up my mind to cancel this order. I already have an unfinished Horizon vinyl kit which is plenty big and detailed. And as others in the modeling forum have shown us, with a bit of work, quite amazing to look at.

For some reason i thought this was a smaller (than the horizon) kit and made of metal. Lol that is what i get for late night shopping.

I was shocked when a box the size of a 30 gallon High fish tank arrived. The box is massive and the build itself is huge. All of the big black parts on the kit are made of super soft sillicone.(?) The Sensor 'Eye/Hood', and the joints covers.

The joints are all stiff ball and socket. The 'pelvis' area has two ball joints so the model can rise or sink about an inch or two in the regular face forward position.

The toes do not move, nor does the little hydrolic flaps you see popping in and out on the 'ankles'. The Screw in the 'heel' area appears to me metal, but the legs do not roll up and down on the 'heel' tracks like the legs do in the film.

Shoulder pads move and the arms have quite a bit of artulation.

:D i love it.

Big one: I KEEL YOU..

Little one: I think I stepped in something....

Awesome kit, good purchase. :)

Awesome pix man. I pre-ordered about a month ago and UPS says it will be in my hands on monday.

I got mine at CornerStoreComics.com for about 180 shipped, which was the lowest price I have found. For a while they are pushing close to 300 on ebay with shipping from asia (ouch).

Very few display pieces impress me, but that is SUPER cool. For some reason, the scene with ED-209 trying to negotiate the stairway in Robocop is one of the most memorable movie moments for me. Just thinking of his big toes trying to feel out that first tiny step... :lol

Wow, that is fantastic. I didn't even relise Sideshow were doing an ED-209 :confused

Does anyone know where I can get one in the UK? :D

And shouldn't this be in the General Modelling Forum? Definitely NOT Off Topic IMO.... nearly missed it.

Cheers,
John

*** EDIT Just checked eBay and I see it's the Hot Toy's version, which I already knew about.... but I didn't realise it was in conjunction with Sideshow? **** EDIT

Woo Hoo... I just got my notice from Alter Ego Comics that my pre-ordered ED209 has shipped. :thumbsup

Hot Toys/Sideshow also have a 12" companion Robocop that is equally as impressive (ALL the details are sculpted into the figure... no decals/paint details).

Sweet, I can't wait mine comes Monday :) I got my tracking number from CornerStoreComics.com early this week. CornerStoreComics.com's people are great to deal with I will add. Now I can't wait to put ED next to my Robocop.

How hard is this kit to put together? I had a heck of a time putting Robo's head on that ball joint worried the heck out of me.

Few more pix

Sideshow just imports it from out of country. They do this with many of their toys and they dont really hype the fact that its made by another company ;)

Very cool..

And how is this off topic??? [/b]

I had a hard time trying to figure out where this thread belonged. Because it wasn't a build-up model, I didn't feel it belonged in that forum and it isn't a prop replica, ... I did a search of 'ed-209' and found only a few hits about the medicom/hot toys announcment to make this 'toy'... so i just following precedence and put it in the off-topic column...
