Sideshow Darth Vader 1:1 Bust

wow - it appears they did put they're own interior in the face mask (not ROTS), and the head comes out... hmmm...

official price: $1250 = :thumbsdown

I second that. (n)thumbsdown

is there a third ?

The head sculpt isn´t bad. But I don´t like the expression. And, like it was said before, there´s not much Shaw recognizable. I guess that lies mainly about that they canged the mouth from the smile to the frown, but has all features of the smile left around the mouth :-(
The next I don´t like are the idealized scars which don´t look like the real make up applications from the movie at all.
I´m sure people out there will like it. I have to admit that the product is much better than the Illusive concept version. You can´t compare them. But I guess I won´t buy me one, because I´m happy with mine. It´s better to have something to work on until it is looking exact like the original. The sideshow Vader isn´t even a good base.

It looks like the pose is static. Does anyone know if the head can be positioned? It doesn´t look like.

From flickr, a photo from the Official Sideshow flickr account.

I wonder if he's wearing a 1:1 Vader bust dome ?

$1250? Yikes....:lol

As for the face I have yet to see anyone capture Sebastian Shaw as Anakin. (Please dont start posting pics of your various sculpts)

I'll third that. (n)thumbsdown:thumbsdown

I'll take one of Trap Joe's reveal head & helmet over this any day.

Put that on my Gino armor and it'll blow that SS abomination out of the water hands down.

don´t worry Here you can compare the faces:

Just to clarify I was referring to anyone in peticular....I just think it sends threads like this the wrong way and didnt want my post to open the door. :wacko

I'm vader expert but I think sideshow have not done a bad version of this reveal helmet and I can see joe public wanting to buy this.

I was'nt expecting to see the DV human head when they removed the helmet:eek makes me want to add this to my own vader reveal that I'm doing.

even tho I'm no vader expert but I can see that there's a few things not right with the detailing inside the helmet.

But why do these companys like efx and sideshow expect the collector to pay these stupid prices.... this is why I was put off buying the efx xwing just puts me off owning these collectables when there over priced.:unsure

For a bust and then a multipart helmet with that level of detail I thought the price was reasonable. I have seen raw helmet kits with only tow pieces sell for more than that. This is a finished piece for the average fan and collector, I see it being quite popular.

Yeah, you'd think a company could do cheaper than fanmade.

Not really, most fanmade stuff is just that it's fanmade most if not everything is done by the maker themselves for no salary.
A company has to pay people all the way along the line, designers, sculpters, toolmakers, manufacturers, marketing etc all these people want paying for their time and that's just part of the cost so i can see why the prices are usually higher than your average fanmade item.

I would still prefer to spend my money into a really good Vader helmet for that high costs. Although i think its not less expensive to get really accurate stuff for an accurate Reveal if you make one yourself.

I'll go out on a limb and say I like the Anakin sculpt.

I think it looks like Sebastian Shaw, and when I look at the pics I've seen so far it actually looks like a 'person' is looking back at me (and not a hunk of painted resin).

If I hads the $$ I'd get one, not because it's accurate but because it's neato.

(but I'd totally take a Trap Joe version if I had the $$ for his too !!)
