Now waiting for the doll. These were made by a guy called Tyler Hasslett.

The first pic is the trap and a pig mask like the one used in the film. I found out that the cat hates the pig mask!:lol

Looks very cool. The trap would look great on one of those foam heads.
Who made the pig mask?
Doug

The pig mask is from Don Post. They also do a Saw pig but the quality is not as sharp. A lot of people think that in the first film, it was this mask. I am not sure about that though.

I spoke with the guy that did some of the effects and he said he sculpted the mask but used the Don Post for reference.

I guess this will serve an an introduction, of sorts. I've been trolling the boards for several months waiting to join and being amazed at the quality of work I've seen. I could've used that time to prepare questions or posts and maybe snapped a few pics of my own, but sadly I'm now registered and completely unprepared.
But I must say, this Saw prop is quite impressive. Not sure what material its made from, but the painting and construction really give the impression of rough cut steel.
Being a fan of the series, several years ago I attempted the Venus Head Trap for a convention and Halloween. Attached is the result of that effort. Its the only decent picture I have at the moment, but now that I can post, I will try to get some more posted soon.

Thanks. I have to admit it is one of my better efforts. I'd still like to redo it now that I have access to a CNC router. Hand cutting all those parts was a pain, and duplicate pieces never quite match. Plus, I had to give it a really rusted, textured finish to help hide glitches. But overall I was happy with it.
I finally got some more pics taken that show some of the detail.

Thanks. The major part of it is made from sintra and the thinner pieces are styrene. There are a few metal bits, mostly nuts and bolts, a few joiners, and the nails. The face plate, both the outer and the removable inner sleeve are papier mache, but with thick wallpaper paste instead of flour/water. Its more durable and harder. The 'straps' criss-crossing on the outside of the face are styrene.

Jaw Dropped!

It's not the most accurate but it's so far is One of a Kind. (Well I see another on yourprops.com but that was for a haunt and it was incomplete) Yours seems awesome I think the mask portion and nail portion is not a screen accurate shape but like I said this is one of a kind job.

This is something I've been wanting since the original was for sale! I found this via search. I have the RBT in this thread infact I helped in its creation. Screencapped the photo's for Tyler / made the crappy timer decal in paint lol.

Please do a run especially if machined. I'm currently working on a 3d file of the VFT possibly for pep but don't know anymore. I'm only a beginner to 3d modelling.

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, you're right about the mask portion being off. Since this was made as a Halloween/DragonCon costume, I molded the face part over a lifecast of myself to assure fit. I also had to make the nails removable (since they are real) so I could close the trap while wearing it.

Plus, it was really hard finding decent pictures of it, so I had to fake some of it. I'm considering making another one, if for no other reason that to prove to myself I can make it better. Depending on how it goes and if it looks like there's any interest, I may make more. Hell, the hardest part to find will be the analog stopwatch. I had that since I was a kid, and of course it stopped working the first night I wore it. I may have to go with a printed version.
