the 3:10 to yuma thread got me thinking about westerns again, and gave me the western bug,...again. :lol
we havent had a good show off thread in a while, so, post pics your props from westerns, classic or modern!

This is the first part of the Johnny Ringo costume I am working on... a hat made by Tom Hirt, who made Ringo's hat for the movies. I had to reshape it a bit and there were 5 different hats used in the film and they all vary so mine is a bit of a mix of what I like in all of them, but I am very very pleased with it. It does have the correct stampede strings as well, they just aren't pictured.

A few original pieces from my two favorite Western-type shows, The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. and Maverick:

Hehe, I know where those BC props came from. :)

Here are a couple of pieces used in the best western of them all...
"The Outlaw Josey Wales".

A saddle-holster Sharps carbine and a metal "dummy" revolver.

Last fall I was SO excited to get in direct contact with Peter Sherayko and had the opportunity to purchase one of his replica Johnny Ringo rigs. However, I was really disappointed when it arrived as it simply wasn't what I wanted. It kinda looked like the rig Ringo wears but there were a lot of easily identifiable differences. Being as picky as I am, I was unsatisfied and after expressing my dissatisfaction to Peter, he stopped taking my calls.

Well, today I have something new to report! After working very closely with Will Ghormley, I now have an all new Johnny Ringo rig that I am absolutely THRILLED with! Thanks to Dave Livingston's help we were able to get some really good detail shots of the original and Will was willing to put every single detail into the rig that I wanted, even the screwups and errors. So here it is! The first image is a comparison of the rig Will made for me compared to the original. The second image is the rig I got from Peter Sherayko compared to the rig Will made for me.

I now have a hat I am happy with and a rig I am happy with. Two parts down... about 2 dozen left to go!!!

I am sure other leathersmiths will copy this now that Will and I are making high res photos available, but let it be known that Will did it first and Will did it right. If you are interested in getting one of the amazing rigs from Will, just go here:

Hey, Art, show your Jesse James rig? :D
Such a cool item.
Really wanna get one myself in the future.

Not a prop, but wood and blood red paint from HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER, from the set location in the eastern Sierra.

Nex you crack me up man!
I'll give you the contact info for the braids on the Josey Coat if you are interested.

We found a lady back in Amish Country who does a five strand platt out of "Brain Tanned" leather...very cool!

I haven't gotten around to getting the appropriate Colt Walker Model One's for the holster yet...

Glad this got bumped back up as I forgot to post my Jesse James from the Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. This was made by the guy who made the original for the movie.

I was told Megan Funk of funksmile.co now has a full time job & no longer has time to create authentic movie costumes. I was also told that she adapted an historic pattern to create the authentic Josey Wales Confederate Guerilla coat. What color was the original coat? What pattern, or patterns, were adapted to create an authentic Josey Wales coat? Can some one please cotact me at: jlenza@stny.rr.com regarding reproducing an authentic Josey Wales coat, Thank you very much, Blondie
