Shaping the Force

I like it I really do.
Id like to see a naturally rough helmet as yours is, painted, because it has a worn damaged surface, from only the rough sanding it been given.
One thing I hope you don't mind me pointing out, the eyes look slightly off, it could be the lighting or just the pictures but something doesn't look right.
The shape, they look too wide, along the top of the eye opening, some standard positioned photo would help tell.

But it is a damn fine looking bucket.
Will you be looking to have it painted for a fresh off the manufacturing line look or a weathered look?

rosskow, I really don't mind you or anybody else pointing out my misshapes :) just have in mind that I'm not going for an exact screen replica since there were not two buckets 100% alike. The whole eye area needs works since and I was starting to work on them when I took this pictures also you might notice that the frown, aerators and vocoder are still in the rough stages. But I'm glad you didn't mention the cheeks again. I'll post more pictures later when I get home.
Thanks for your input :thumbsup

Edit: The plans are to use the helmet as a mold so I can make few lightweight helmets and not have to worry about bucket cracking, chipping off under pressure

Glad you like it spacecowboy, and Thank you for all the hard work and countless hours that you put into your pep file.

See you've cleaned up the 4 recesses on the dome, (two above the ears and two on the back).

It looks great.
Interested to see how you are doing the ear, with the pucks and the recess for them.

I'll be watching

also, looks like your bucket grinning on the last picture, almost laughing :lol....or is it just me

Yeah I got tired of the unfinish dome look so I gave them a must needed overhaul as for those ear recesses. I've found that is easier to make the ears off the helmet than on the helmet so I thought hey why not I just make some recesses where the ears are going to be sited so the ears have something to hold on to. I also did some changes to the eyes to a more natural shape I'll post some more shots later

Headphones update

Right side

Left side

next on the book is to get the ear / headphone covers done right now they are looking a bit flat :lol stay tuned

Hold up. Not going tell us how you did that. Looks great. The main puck at the top seems simply enough, how did you tackle the lower part.

Vocoder next, once you finish off the ears?

Thanks rosskow! I used a cardboard template for the lower headphones covered with masking tape ( by covering them with masking tape, the smoothness of the tape keeps the template from sticking to the filler/bondo an also gives them a smooth finish) then I filled the template with filler, once filler dries out I unfolded it and reversed the template to make the other side. With the two lowers on hand I sanded out any major imperfection then I just bonded them to the helmet.

I finally had some time to make the headphone buttons, just incase anyone wonders they are made out of milliput which I'll be gluing them to the headphones as soon as I get some free time

The little details really bring it together, and your milliput skills look impressive. Getting the details on such small pieces is far from easy.

Thanks for you kind words rosscow (y)thumbsup yeah I learned that working with milliput is not as easy as it looks :lol

Next on the list:
1 Mouth
2 refinish eyes to a more smooth finish
3 refinish aerator areas
4 vocoder

picture update

I cant help but think the ear buds you recently attached are a little big.
Didn't notice it in the picture when they were alone but seeing them on the helmet, they look like they stick out more than they should. That is just going from memory, I didn't look at ref pictures to check so I might be wrong.

This is beauty!
Besides the build i enjoy very much your photographs!

-Angel.

Thank you very much Angel, glad you're enjoying the build and pictures!

rosskow, They do stick out more than the ones on the screen accurated there is not doubt about it, at this point nothing is written in stone just yet and I provably be shorting them a bit not sure about it yet, but we'll see. also I might going to upset some puritans out there. but I firmly believe that the original bucket lacks in design form I think it could have been better design if they had the proper time to see think things through before rushing into production, there are so many things that can be addressed in the original bucket. but that would end up on changing the whole appearance which I'm not going to do.
Anyways, One of the reasons why I made the buttons bigger is because if you look at the bucket, the bucket is massive( build for combat ) well almost everything in this bucket is massive lol and it would look a bit silly with smaller headphones or buttons.
I'll try to post some portraits tonight. also thanks for not holding back rosskow
