Sesame Street puppets

The muppet forum has lots of good tips on building some of these or at least a good foundation for building muppetlike characters. Here are a few links to getya started. The Anton (muppet) fleece they use isn't cheap either. Like 20 a yard or so give or take. SOME of the guys been finding pillows made of monsterlike fur and using the insides for stuffing if it's batting and not foam. Hope this helps.

Thanks for those links. I read a few puppet making books a while back but have yet to actually try to create one myself (never enough time).
 
In the next year or so I'd like to try my hand at making a green frog hand puppet (you know, the kind that fall in love with pigs), but I would love to know the dimensions of the current "Kermit" puppet. I don't suppose anyone knows where to find such dimensions.
 
I make them as a small hobby. I've only made a few, but they're very "muppet" like. I actually have one of them here with me at work (well, in my car from the last time I performed)

Grey Seal puppets has a nice book called 'The Foam Book' available on Amazon. I also got the 2 videos and their technique is deceptively simple.

I've been working on my own M-puppet for a while now.
Your fleece seem fleece-ier than mine. Is it real Antron?

I picked up a 'good enough' fleece from the local Jo-Ann's Fabrics.
Are you that good at concealing the seams on the face or else how did you construct the face?
 
Yup, antron all the way. You can get it in different lengths of knap, but it's the only way to go. It's stretchy so you can make it the same size or a tad smaller than the foam pattern and it will stretch over it nicely so that there are no wrinkles.

The face has a seam down the middle. Once you put it on over the foam form, use a straight pin to pick it out and blend it in. You can still see it a bit on his lower lip. I didn't spend a whole lot of time picking the seams on him.
 
There was a guy on here who created awesome replicas except he created sockpuppet (irony) accounts to give himself praise. The sad part was they were really great.

I wanted one of these since I was 2.

I was told it only comes in white? Is this true or did you find it in that color? Great job, btw.

No, you can get it in all colors. Just make sure that you get enough, because if you run out and have to order more, there will be slight differences in color from dye job to dye job.

Sounds good. I'm hoping this info will help in my future vetures of making large character heads/costumes as well. Need to know more about working with foam and whatnot.

No the really sad part was that he was a scammer and had been thrown off E-bay multiple times as well as Muppet central.

I heard a few people loss money to him so count yourself lucky.
