Sept '08 Bug List...

It shows me as having two PM's but I don't have any. Also, I swear I posted a thread in the Junkyard but it ended up in the Prop Forum. Maybe I totally lost my mind and somehow clicked on the Prop Forum for my new thread, but I specifically remember posting it in the Junkyard.

i use internet explorer, but it was working fine until the change, i tried deleting my cookies and such but nothing changed i dont get what woulda suddenly caused this problem

I'm having issues with the quick HTML buttons in my new message creation today. Didn't have a problem yesterday. For instance, when I try to click on a smilie to the right or the Bold or Link buttons above the edit box, nothing happens. It's like they are just images with no functionality. And the quote button is including
text. I'm using the default setting... Oh, and it's taking out all of my breaks so that while I am hitting 'return' and leaving a few empty lines, when it posts my post, it's all one big globby paragraph.

It started working again earlier, but now I'm having the same problem with the short cut HTML buttons. I know enough HTML to fudge my way through and make my posts look decent, but it is some sort of bug. I don't know what I did differently to make it work or not work...

...I'm having the same problem with the short cut HTML buttons.

What browser are you using? Is this happening to anyone else? Nothing changed server-side with the quick button scripts, so I'm not sure what's going on... let me look into it though.

I'm having on and off slow internet connection issues, so if nobody else has the problem, maybe it has to do with something on my end.

Apparently the Search Function is broken. I did a forum search of the JY and couldn't find the word Yavin even though there is a thread on page 2 which has it in the title. When I do a search for "yavin" by clicking on search on the main RPF page it doesn't pick up the new thread either. Doesn't pick up anything more recent than 1/2008.

I experienced the same problem when searching for my threads about Grail Diaries. I typed in "diaries" for the search, and nothing came up, even though the threads are still there.

I am using Firefox, and my connection is working great this morning, but I'm still having issues with smilies and html buttons.

Also, if I don't type in the html break marks, my text ends up in one big paragraph. And now it seems I can't edit my posts because when I go to submit the edit, the button isn't working. (this happened in the hoarding/gross apartment thread so I had to double post to make my post readable)

The preview post button works and the submit button works (obviously), but when I hit 'edit' and type things up, I can't submit it. Very strange going's on.

Yep, somethings is wrong with the search index. It's indexing other forums (like this one) but it's skipping the JY for some reason... looking into it. Good catch. :thumbsup

I'm going to try to reset your account the best I can, just in case it's something on our end... Nothing changed though, so I still think it's some client-side code-reading error... Are you using Firefox 3? I haven't tried 3 yet.....

Are there any other FF3 users? Any problems?

Guri, please send me your email so I can email you after resetting things. Thanks! Sorry about the mess... :(

OK, I've just repaired and optimized the entire database twice just to cover all the bases... if that doesn't fix things, at least the site will run faster for some people. :)

Guri, you might have done this, but maybe try clearing your RPF cache and cookies?

The following errors occurred with your submission:
The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 1 characters.

I still get this when i try to post normally, it's not a problem on my end. I've refreshed everything and deleted my coockies, signed out and back in. Nothing works

synasp, I wasn't sure if this was included in the repairs, but I did a quick test of the search function, and the same problem still occurs. :)

I don't understand how you're able to post, then. Are you just getting that error when you submit the first time? Let me know when you get it (what exactly is in your reply--as in are you just quoting a previous post, adding emoticons, or actually typing a bunch of stuff out?), as well as when you're able to submit the post (when you don't get the error).

Sorry, haven't gotten to the search issue yet... will do that now. :) Thanks!

OK, I can dump the current search index then rebuild it, but it's really server intensive so I'll have to shut the site down to do it...... :wacko

I'll do that sometime when less people are on.

The only way I can post is by using the quick reply, I can't go advanced or quote or anything. I get the same problem when I PM too.
