Sektor and Cyrax MK 2011 build

Hello all! I'm currently planning builds of Sektor and Cyrax as they appear in Mortal Kombat (2011):

I'm planning on building the armor out of polyethylene foam mats, and here's where I've run into a problem: I'd like the foam to match the color of the armor (they won't have extensive paintwork, as I want them to be able to take a beating without worrying about damaging the paintjob.) I've looked and looked, but I can't seem to find polyethylene mats in any colors other than blue or green. The mats JFcustom uses for his (awesome) builds would be perfect, but they don't appear to be sold in the United States. Would anyone have an idea on where to find the elusive colors of red and yellow?

Re: Colored polyethylene foam. Can it be found in the US? (Sektor and Cyrax build)

Whelp, not much of an update building-wise, but I have found a US supplier of polyethylene (And I think I can even afford them! Score!). While waiting for my order, I've been making templates for the armor. So far, I've got the legs worked out.

Sektor:

Stay tuned, hopefully more to come!

I finally found what I needed at Cascade Tool & Foam Supply! I ordered two 27"x108" 6mm thick sheets, one red, one yellow:

Then I whipped up some templates for the helmet. My printer is on the fritz, so I had to free-hand them.

After some tracing, cutting, gluing, and painting, I was left with this:

Not bad for a freehand helmet! It still needs a bit more paint, and the dreadlocks need finishing, but I think this is going pretty well. Onto the armor!

Time for a tiny update. I've roughed out both sets of forearms. I still need to add Sektor's flamethrowers, and finish some detailing on Cyrax. These builds aren't going to be 100% accurate, but I'm sure I'll be happy with the end result.

Please excuse my filthy mirror. :D

Lookin great.
Cant wait to see these finished.
May I ask what type of foam you ordered?
I see different types on their site.

I ordered the Value Line 4-lb XPE 1/4 Red and Yellow, from the specials page. This stuff is great. It cuts cleanly, seams are nearly invisible, and it glues to both itself, and EVA foam! I've also found that Liquitex acrylic paint sticks to it quite well. [h=2][/h]

I've gotten Sektor's biceps assembled, minus the shoulder pad. I'm debating just leaving it off for concerns of it interfering with the shoulder plate connected to the chest.

I'm back! Updates will be kind of slow, as I'm working fervently toward my College Senior show. Cyrax's arms are mostly done. The chest and back should be next.

It's been a hectic last few weeks, but this project is still on. I've built Cyrax's helmet, finished up Sektor's, and installed mirrored lenses in both.

(on a side note, I can't quite figure out how uploading photos from a phone works, hence they're sideways)

Looks great, man. Really clean.

Good find on the Cascade Tool & Foam Supply. They seem pretty eager to send out samples, so I'm going to see how all their foam densities hold up and then order from there.

Cyrax's chest is nearly done, and I've gotten a start on Sektor's. They'll be far less flat once they're properly strapped and buckled.

Cyrax is all buckled up, but it looks like I'll have to shorten the shoulder straps a bit.

(side note: even after preemptively rotating the photos, they're still sideways. I can't for the life of me figure this out.)
