Hi All,
Space becomes at a premium when the addiction takes over and the collection grows. Enter the vertical lightsaber stand. I had some fairly flimsy stands in place and wanted something more robust and more esthetically pleasing. I really like the design style of the Prop shop one they used for the Kylo. I borrowed this style(I hope that is OK) and modeled it from scratch in Solidworks but made some changes so they could be used for OT lightsabers. First, my approximation is that the PS stand is about 8 inches deep and that doesn't leave any space for a plaque on an 8-inch shelf so I decreased the depth. Then I decided instead of using a MR style plaque holder, I would incorporate it into the holder. All together it's about 7 inches deep. I then had to lift the bottom of the cradle so the saber would be above the plaque holder. I made the counterbore on the bottom cradle 1.6", this should work for most OT sabers. I wanted the top to accept the flash clamp, as this is a fairly universal diameter for OT sabers. The clamp is higher on flashes and lower on thin necks, I think I made a decent compromise in location to accept both. I print it with a little bit of Fuzzy Skin and I just love it. I thought if I love it, maybe someone else might too. I have attached the stl file in case anyone might want to print it. Now I just need to figure out what to do for plaques. Any Ideas welcome. Oh, I also have a version with the plaque holder vertical, instead of slanted back to match the saber angle. Honestly it was an oversight on my first try, but then I said, if it were on a top shelf then that could work so I didn't overwrite it. If anyone might be interested in that version, let me know and I will post it. Thanks all, Ben
