Seas AVP blades completed

I have finally completed SeaHunterrs AVP blades. They are 5/16" thick X 24" long. I fashioned them based upon the AVP Comic Con Maquette Predators gaunt blades. They are made of white lexan. And then ALSA Corp. MirraChromed.

After doing blades, it struck me how important blades are to the Predator suit intotal. I hope peeps dig what they see, and that these add a cool new angle to SeaHunterrs new AVP suit.

Sorry for the dust in the pics. Just got back from the paint shop. As well, on the blades edges, you see what look like flecks. What that is, is the MirraChrome. It needs to be very lightly dusted onto a shiny black base coat. So those flecks are actually the shiny MirraChrome flecks. The blade edges are actually nice and smooth like the blades flat surfaces.

If the pics seem too large, click on them, they should pull back.

Thx all!

Those look absolutely fanfreakintastic! Yet another amazing piece of work that you have created Gary. Im really enjoying seeing what your putting out. Keep it up!

I second that!! The blades rock!!!

I should be so lucky to make the mold for the next set of masters!!

Gary, you are the undisputed King of Lexan!!! I don't see anyone unseating you any time soon!!!

WAAAAHHHHH! I can't seem to see them. All I get is a little box with a red cross.

Now I see them, and WOW those blades look as if they could take your spine out just by looking at them. And would set anybodys suit off to a "T"

Hmmm, I guess those will be ok...
Wow, Gary you are the prop master...everything you touch is turning to gold...now get that working spear done! hehe
Thanks again, I've been waiting for these babies to put in my gaunts....oh, thats what I need now..gaunts.

Them something to write home about. Those looks sweet gary you need to make a mold, so you don't have to work so hard.

What a nice job man !! Those are so cool !!

congratulations !

Mira-chrome eh?
Hmmmmmm............

That's probably the difference between silver painted average looking blades and metal looking kick ass blades, right?

Paintwise it is the difference. Shapewise.... is another story. Like I said aways back when I did the prelim blade to see if these would work. If ya got a crappy looking blade design, then making it shiny just gives ya shiny looking crap. lol

Using the right shape = ADIs design, going the extra mile and doing those side panels, not just trying to carve them in to fake that look just to get away with less work.... and the paint is why these have the proper visuals look... imho.

Definately gonna see a mold soon. Gotta cut the work load down on these.

That raised design really sets them apart. Very , very nice.

Gary
your building quite the arsenal there Guns blades...i wonder what's next...hehe

great looking set of blades there

Excellent work, man. Those things turned out great! I will say that in your case it's more than just the paint work that makes your blades stand out as quite possibly the best set I've ever seen. The craftsmanship, and all the time and effort you put into them really stands out in my mind. You said it yourself man, you can have a set of crap blades with a real nice paintjob, but they're still crap blades. Not the case here at all. The best blades I have ever seen next to the ones used in the movies.

Killer job, Gary!! I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

HIGH FIVE!!!

Thx for all the awesome positive comments. I have to mention tho that anyone that has came before me could just as easilly have made these blades. All it really took was a critical eye, and some deft scrollsaw work for cutting the blade profiles, some dremel work from shaping the blade edges, the cutting of the sidepanels sanding those and gluing into place.

After my conversation with Sea this morning inchat, I decided to go down to the scrollsaw, and take a few example pics of exactly how these blades came to be. Check these 4 pic links out:

Now that`s how easy these blades start to become what they are. Thx again all. Hopefully a mold can be done of these blades, and they may be able to add some visuals coolness to a few AVP suits round these parts. ;0)
