SDCC San Diego Comic Con 2011 : Sold Out

Tomorrow or well today this morning aka Nov 1st!!!!

also, I have a question that hopefully some-one can answer. If I purchase a badge for my brother and he ends up not going. Is There is any way to transfer it to another member of my family or girlfriend? The website says no transferring which I find hard to believe especially since they are selling the tickets far off in advance. Things change within months and tickets sell out fast. So if my brother cant go than I am stuck going alone since tickets will be sold out and I cant give his ticket to some-one else?

Comic con seems to make life a living hell every year. That being said, I'm still going to try to go again this year, let's hope they don't screw me over again.

again? story time.....

Well, my um "insert bad name" older bro went with me friday last year and got all the exclusives he wanted...well, since he got everything he wanted he didnt want to go back saturday, so I ended up not attending saturday's event...

I kind of dont want to go through the same process I went through last year so I plan on taking my little brother but since his work schedule is so inconsistent. I just dont want to get screwed again...

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

Two years ago I was just too slow getting tickets, that was my bad because I didn't realize how fast they sell out. Last year I got tickets, but there was an issue 2 weeks before the con (the fault of the guy who used his card to pay for our tickets, not anything that would happen to somebody who follows the rules) and they canceled my tickets along with his for good measure. This year I'm hoping everything will go smoothly.

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

that sucks...did they notify you guys in advance or did you show up thinking you had tickets

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

Does it go on sale exactly at 9 AM PST?

Also, is it daylight saving down in LA? Should be -8 GMT right?

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

Day light savings time ends nov 7th, so it wont affect the time today....and yes, it sells exactly at 9am...right now it is 2:40am, so hopefully you can figure out the difference with your time...

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

Yep, if it's -8 there and +8 here, it should be midnight when it goes on sale here if I calculated it right.

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

No, they let us know right then. I wouldn't ever try to go again if I had actually gotten to SDCC and gone through all the trouble of getting my badge just to be told I had to leave. I'd really just like to go once to see what it's like. I haven't heard anybody say a single good thing about the con in years.

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

The registration site is overwhelmed.
Big surprise. LOL

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

Seriously, they knew well in advance about this and still didnt prepare well enough for it. They cancelled selling tickets for today and will sell them at a later date..

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

Seriously epic fail. How can they not be prepared for this AGAIN?

Man, this is worst than when I tried to buy Justin Bieb... I mean... U2 tickets.

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

Now sez....

"Please check back on the 8th of November for information on the new registration date."

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

Well, I am not loving it right now....The 4 day preview night sold out at the convention and they didnt expect that to happen....Well, wouldnt they be more prepared for today when word got out the preview night sold out and people would be trying hard to get tickets...Comic con has been going on for years and it still seems they cant get their act together with certain aspects of the con

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

Please remember with few exceptions, Comic-Con is a volunteer group. Believe it or not.

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

A friend today suggested they ought to set up a lottery system for some of the popular events and exclusives.
Having people wait for hours in lines only to be turned away or give up is unnecessary waste of peoples time. And they could be out spending money instead of wasting hours in line so it is in everyone's interest.

Hm, well where do I sign up to be on the board of directors? Maybe, I can add a little common sense to the group. ;)

They did that last year for the batman arkum asylum figure. People still waited hours to get a chance to do the lottery and once you found out you werent getting one while people behind you that waited less got one may be upsetting. I can really careless about the exclusives...most buy them to just turn around to sell them for a profit on ebay...They are probably there for the wrong intentions. Last year, I picked up a few exclusives and sold them for the same price that I purchased them to fellow rpfers. It sucks not being able to go and it sucks how people pay soo much to get an item they wanted.

Re: San Diego Comic Con Tickets Go on Sale

One of the sad realities of Comic-con is that they are never short of vendors, artists or fans.

And as with all businesses that have that, customer service seems to suffer.

Seems to me they should do it TWICE a year... If there is THIS much interest... to have tickets go on sale NOW? :confused It just seems like it's gotten a bit too big. If it was twice a year maybe there wouldn't be such a feeding frenzy for tix, hotels, parking etc.

And something surely can be done about the line waiting for exclusives. All I have ever heard is horror stories. And 75% of the people are in line to sell the item on Ebay for a proffit... just seems like it's the real fan/customer that suffers.
