Sculpt the temple of doom monkey

The lack of clear photos (and the two pics that are there have been put under photoshop filters) does not really boost my confidence in this seller. It looks pretty good, but who's to know how it'll look in person.

Just wanted everyone's opinion prior to cutting up the sculpt. I plan on cutting out a piece of the face and then lowering it on the sculpt and then blend it in. I did this crude Photoshop test to show what I plan to do and I think it looks better with the lowered nose, cheeks and mouth. The black lines were drawn on the sculpt with a marker, so I have something to cut after. I may have to reinforce that area of the face on the inside prior to cutting to minimalise risk of breakage.

I just finished up Darth Cross' kit. I know that the photos of the "screen used" props show white eyes, with coloured irises and black pupils, but every single screencap I took of the movie shows brown eyes with black pupils (no whites like a human). This is also how real monkey's eyes are, so my eyes don't have any whites.

That looks nuts! Got any tips for doing the hairing? I don't have one yet, but I hope to get my hands on one soon.

Thanks. Hairing is my least favourite part of any bust! :lol
For this one I used a hot glue gun to lay down lines of glue (this seems the best option on resin for me as it has a very fast dry time). I tend to work from the hairline backwards (yeah, I know, pretty much the opposite of what should probably be done). Once the glue line is on, stick the end of a strip of hair onto it and press it down with your fingers (it doesn't tend to stick properly if you don't press it down firmly). This will of course get glue on your fingers, but if your hair layer is thick enough you shouldn't burn yourself. Anything that sticks out past where the glue line is (where it would grow from) can be trimmed with scissors and anything that hasn't stuck properly can be carefully pulled away.
After the first hair line is finished, the hair can be pushed away from the head, and subsequent lines of hair can be added, moving from the front of the head round to the back. Once everything is stuck, it will just need trimmed with scissors and cut to shape a bit.

Hi Guys
Finally got around to posting some images of 3 monkey head kits that we purchased from Darth Cross and Sporak. One is my own and the other two are for forum members over on CoW.
I have ordered a jello brain mould from a seller on eBay which should arrive any day now. We will then cast out the brains in a jelly-like material used for creating water in dioramas.
Just got to source a good goblet now that can be painted up to match the screen used prop.

Still on the look out for a suitable goblet.
It's a choice between the regular round base as seen on screen, or the bird's foot base that Indy, Willie and Captain Blumbert have in front of them.
Obviously a round base would be easier.
Maybe someone could offer the goblets...?

I was very fortunate to purchase a multitude, if not all, the prop monkey heads back in the early 1990's directly from the property master on the film.
If I remember correctly there were three versions of differing 'quality'. Both those pictured in this thread as original are in indeed original. There were only I think three hero foreground versions, the best of which still resides in my collection and can be viewed in the 'collection' section of the website. The hero ones have glass eyes, ears, teeth and detailed features.

This is awesome, great work. Wish I had seen this post sooner. I would use this as a candy dish at my desk, or eat cereal out of it (if that wouldn't ruin it). Great prop, but this would be one of those props that I would want to use rather than put on a shelf.
